Obesessive Compulsive Cosmetics: Lip Tar Review

Hey Beauties! Today I am reviewing for the first time Obsessive Compulsive cosmetics lip tars!! Some of you may be wondering. . .Who is Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics? Well, to find out more about the company click "here" to be directed to their site and full bio. I came across OCC on YouTube from watching Queenofblending. I believe she was the first person I have ever heard about these amazing pigmented lip tars from almost over a year ago. Just recently I have been seeing more and more reviews from other fabulous makeupnistas on YouTube which started to peak my curiosity.

So, I thought to myself since I have been receiving a ton of requests from you all wanting to know my thoughts on this brand I needed to give these a try. Later on to my surprised OCC sent their amazing lip tars for review consideration! I originally received the products for review in May, but I was unable to review them for you since my dad passed away around that time. However, now that I have had some time to absorb everything that has gone on since then I am ready to share with you all my thoughts, favorites and no so favorites with you all now.

As you will see I rec'd 12 shades of lip tars and the OCC #009 angled brush in order to have a flawless application of the lip tar. According to OCC their  Lip Tars are 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, and is also free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. Their Lip Tars contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E.

OCC says,

"A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment – a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you!"

All of the lip tars sells for $13 each and the product is packaged in a 8mL tube. I like the fact that they are in tube because it's more travel friendly and I can use every drop out of the tube.

How does the product feel on the lips?

When I applied it on it felt as if I was applying a gel/lipgloss to my lips but without the sticky texture of a lipgloss. Since it has peppermint the product felt very cooling on the lips too!

I have to say a little does go a long way and you do end up with a smooth satiny finish, however, you will seeing in the collage below that there are a few shades that were a little challenging to play with.

Was the Lip Tars streaky or runny?

Honestly, I only had a few of the lip tars were streaky and you will see that in my swatch photo: Hush, Pageant, and Katricia. Overall, they went on super easy and lasted me until after lunch time during a typical work day.

My Favorites?

  • Trick
  • Melange
  • Anime
  • NSFW
  • Memento

I also forgot to mention how I love the fact that you can easily mix the lip tars in order to create your own unique shade! The colors are also very pigmented and rich so what you see it what you get! I guess I would say is if you are thinking about adding these to your makeup collection just remember a little bit goes a long way!

Would I buy these?

Oh yes, this is perfect for on the go and if you are an aspiring makeup artist the are great because you can purchase basic colors for mixing and create your own shades for whatever look your are inspired to create. Plus these lip tars are very affordable and not overly priced! What are your thoughts on Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars if you own them? Please share by leaving a comment below. Until next time, have a fabulous day!
