Eye Shadow Primers: Urban Decay, Too Faced, & Smashbox Primers. What’sThe Difference?

Eye shadow primers!! The most talked about primers on youtube and beauty blogs are the Urban Decay Primer Potion, Too Face Shadow insurance and Smashbox Photo finish lid primer. Which one is the best overall? Well, let’s answer that question today. Before we do that let’s talk about each primer and what they do!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion 0.34 oz Original:

What it does:
Packaged in a precious, genie-like bottle, Eyeshadow Primer Potion is an ultra-sheer, totally nude eye base that glides on with the wave of a wand and then disappears instantly. It’s the ultimate eye prep for smoother, more vibrant shadow and all-day wear, with absolutely no creasing. Now with a new and improved bent wand!

what I think:
I think this is the best primer ever. It is very easy to blend out your shadow over this product and it does not create a milky ashy texture on brown skin too!! Overall at Sephora this primer is rated 5 stars consistently and so worth the $18 you will spend on this one for sure! The only downside to this one is it packaging. I always wonder do I get all of my product out? However with the new paddle foot Urban Decay’s says that you will be able to get every last drop so we will see about that.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer

What it does:
Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer creates the perfect canvas for eyeshadow application. Wear this universal shade under shadow to increase longevity, or create the perfect nude eye by applying over the lid for an even tone.

What Else You Need To Know:
The exclusive formula contains Phytomoist, a plant-based hyaluronic acid for ultimate moisturization and amino acids for skin-smoothing benefits. Soft focus pearls help diminish the appearance of fine lines on the lids while the patented Qusome® delivery system ensures all ingredients penetrate the skin to deliver effective results.

What I like and dislike:
I love that this primer is also easy to blend shadows with. I also like that tinted color in this product too. With the tint it is easy to even out uneven skintone like redness and other discoloration too. The down side for brown skin women in the deeper tones this primer may appear to look ashy. Overall I love this one too! You will shell out a bit more on this one ($18), but again another goody for the makeup collection.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Size: 0.35 oz
What it does:
This is your full-coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked, and hard-to-blend eyeshadow accidents. Our silicone based eyeshadow primer transforms any eyeshadow into a perfectly blendable, color-drenched, intensified version of itself, then locks it down perfectly until you take it off. This soothing formula evens out the skintone on your lids and smoothes lines while securing a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup, so no shadow catastrophes will ever happen again.

What I think:
The packaging of this product is awesome because I was able to get every last drop of product out with ease. It goes on smooth and creamy, however when it come to blending out the shadow it because difficult especially with darker shades. This item sells for $18 and I think it is great when you are working with light pigmented shadows, but when darker shadows not so good.
