Urban Decay Book Of Shadows 3 Review

Hey my beauty chameleons! As you all know Urban Decay Cosmetics released their limited edition Book of Shadows 3 on their website on September 7th (labor day) at 12:00 CST. I am so glad I was close to my computer around that time because within ten minutes of my purchase the Book of Shadows 3 was sold out! Yes, I am not kidding in 10 minutes! That is crazy for a new launch for any brand. However rest assure this palette will come back at Urban Decay online and I know for sure Sephora.com and ULTA Beauty will launch this wonderful palette this Holiday season and will be in store sometime in October. So, if you did not get you hands on it this time around definitely stay tuned and check your local Sephoras and Ulta's in-store and online closer to that time.

Anyway, earlier this week I came home from work and my hubby said that there was a package waiting for me on my desk and when I got to it I saw my Urban Decay Books of Shadows 3 package. So, like any makeup junkie and place everything down and rushed to open my package. Everything was packaged very nicely from Urban Decay and I also found a sample of some cream shadows too! Here is what the Book of Shadows look like in person. It is super cute 🙂

The packaging as you can see is so cute and a bit thicker than the previous book of shadows. I think that is mainly due to the fact that this beautiful book has lighting as you see in the picture above. I had to test the lighting out in the dark and it worked. hee hee 🙂 Not that this is functional in anyway, I think this was made just for aesthetics, Right? The inside appears to resemble the city of NYC and all this fashion and beauty that comes along with it to me. Inside the Book of Shadows 3 you will find a mix of brights, neutrals and dark shades that will give you the variety to create some every day looks and fun after 5 looks too. This palette includes the following:

Book of Shadows 3 includes 16 shadows, two 24/7 glide liners (Zero & Ransom), and a Mini Primer Potion. Colors in order:

  • Perversion (Matte Black)
  • Uzi (White Satin with lots of Micro glitters)
  • Loaded
  • Kush (micro glitters)
  • Midnight Cowboy Rides Again**
  • Last Call**
  • Rockstar
  • Money
  • Haight
  • Maui Wowie**
  • Smog**
  • Bordello
  • Radium
  • Snatch (micro glitters)
  • Suspect
  • Psychedelic

**Notes shadows are available and can be purchased separately.

All of the shadows are very pigmented and glide on the eye with ease of blending and that is one characteristic I love about urban decay's eye shadows. I love that there are brights to work with and neutrals because I know a lot of people would be afraid of this palette if it only contained bold colors. The only too shadows that I was not 100% in love with was Uzi and I believe snatch because of the glitter fall out, but I guess it would be full for a holiday party or Halloweens looks. The primer is always awesome and the 24/7 glide pencils I love because both are waterproof and can also be used as a shadow base too. A shadow base? Yes, if you are wanting to create a bold look on this eye area. Here is a closer look of the palette and swatches:

Like I said before the shadows are beautiful. Now is this worth purchasing? Well, if were not able to get your hands on the book of Shadows volume 1 or 2 this would definitely be a great palette to go for. Now, if you own the prequels to these if it worth the purchase? Yes and no. I do own the prequels and I have to say that there were only a few repeats and I will explain this in this video below:

[flv:http://beautychameleon.com/videos/urbandecaybookofshadows3/urbandecaybookofshadows3.flv 480 360]

Overall, if you are a collector of these palettes definitely check this beautiful Book of Shadows. I think this again would be a great gift for a fellow makeup junkie or Christmas gift for someone that has been trying to get this for some time. Questions for you? Did you get this palette? What are your thoughts? Was it worth it to you? Please share. Also is you would like to see a certain looks created  with this palette please post your ideas below because you all know that I will be creating some tutorials on my youtube channel for sure.

Anyway, stay tuned, for all of my youtube subbies there will be an official youtube video review coming up for this palette too. In the meantime have a fabulous day and I will chat with you soon 🙂

Urban Decay Naked Palette Reveiw

Okay, my beauty chameleons!! After seeing many reviews of the Urban Decay’s Naked Palette on twitter and Youtube I decided to get my hands on this palette today! Why? Well this is such a beautiful palette of neutrals that any woman would want to have in her eye shadow wardrobe. This palette is perfect for everyday looks and most importantly it is a perfect palette for women that are on the go and travel! Why carry around dozens of neutral eye shadow singles in your travel bag when you can have all of the neutral shadows needed in one palette! In addition to the collection of colors you all get a dual ended eye liner in Urban Decay’s most popular shade Zero (black) and the new Whiskey (matte brown), and the Urban Decay Primer Potion too!

I personally love the Velvet exterior of the palette with the gold lettering of the name of the palette too. It feels and look so luxurious. As far as the shadow quality? Fabulous! I like the fact that Urban Decay include a few matte shadows like Naked Buck in addition to the beautiful monochormatic shadow of browns and the black and silver toned shadow too all for $44! This palette can literally take you from day to night! The pigmentation is awesome as usual with this brand and they have never let me down on that. I love Urban Decay! I wish I could take the entire Gondula of Urban Decay from Sephora and have it in my home for personal use, lol. I can dream though, right? Anyway, here is a closer look of the palette and swatches:

Here are the swatches:

More About this palette & What They Say About It At Sephora:

These neutrals won’t leave you naked. THIS is how Urban Decay does neutral: Far from boring, the Naked Palette includes 5 NEW shades (with names like Buck, Darkhorse, and Virgin) in addition to seven of the brand’s most addictive best-selling eyeshadows. This is a shadow palette that everyone will want, everyone can use, and everyone will buy. Experiment with office-appropriate neutrals, summertime bronzy looks, or sultry smokiness (achieve golden, brownie, or grey-hued shade combos). Plus, you get an exclusive double-ended version of the award-winning 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero (black) and Whisky (a warm brown shade without sparkle) and a mini genie bottle of Eyeshadow Primer Potion. With all this at your fingertips…you’ll hardly need clothes at all.

This set contains:
– 12 x 0.05 oz shadows: Virgin (nude satin), Sin (champagne shimmer), Naked (buff matte), Sidecar (beige sparkle), Buck (brown matte), Half Baked (bronze), Smog (golden brown shimmer), Darkhorse (bronze-plum shimmer), Toasted (taupe-bronze), Hustle (mocha shimmer), Creep (near-black metallic), Gunmetal (dark grey metallic)
– 2 x 0.02 oz Double-ended 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero (black) and Whisky (warm brown)
– 0.13 oz Travel Size Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Currently, I noticed the Urban Decay Naked Palette is sold out at Sephora online and Urban Decay online, so hopefully they will be coming out with more for those of you that are dying to have this palette in your hands to use for this fall season. I checked with Ulta.com and it appears that they do not carry this gorgeous palette yet, but I will definitely keep you all posted! In the meantime, if you leave close to a Sephora Store definitely go check them out and see if they have in stock.

Lastly, be on the look out on my youtube channel Nhop76 because I will be coming up with a few tutorials on how to create some fun looks to wear to work, everyday, and the club too!
