Fun In The Sun: Top 10 Items You Must Have

new 014006749 group six beautiful young girl

Hey beauties!! Memorial day weekend is just around the corner and I know many of you are planning to have fun with your friends and family, right? Many of you will be out shopping in the sun, hitting the waves at your local beaches looking like sun goddesses or at your local park having some fun over bar-b-que and games. Well…with all of the fun celebrating these are my top 10 must haves in order to have you looking great and protecting your youth at the same time!

  1. My first must have is a must!! A high performing sunscreen that will protect your beautiful skin from premature aging and hyperpigmentation (the dreadful brown spots). Shiseido’s Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 50 For Face/Body, $39 is perfect for those of you that are going to be spending time outdoors in the sun. I love this sunscreen due to the light weight texture and the fact that this sunscreen is sand-and perspiration-proof along with being water-resistant for you beauties that love to hit the waves at your local beach or pool.
  2. For those of you that still crave to have a smooth and flawless complexion without the weight of a traditional foundation then this tinted moisturizer is perfect! NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Seychelles, $42:  In addition to the sun protection you will gain from this tinted moisturizer you will gain an radiant glow.
  3. Even though it is hot outside the sun can still dry out our kissable lips and burn them too! Which is why Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 Sugar, $22.50made my list. Ever since I have received this as my Beauty Insider birthday gift from Sephora this has been a staple in my bag. It is non sticky and keeps my lips smooth while protecting them from getting burned from the sun!
  4. Water!! Yes I said it WATER!! You need to stay hydrated!! Water is good for your health and will help avoid heat exhaustion. The other great benefit to drinking water is that it will keep your skin-cells plumped and supple resulting in smooth and radiant skin! Keeping a water bottle close like this Brita Hard Sided Water Filter Bottle, $19.99is a must. I like the fact that it has a filter attach for worry free refilling at the beach or shopping center that has a public water fountain.
  5. Must have a fun and bright flowy maxi dress this summer. They are easy to throw on and style up and down with simple accessories!! They are also a nice item to take to the beach because they are so easy to cover up after hitting the waves!! I really love this Bar III Dress, Sleeveless Halter Keyhole A-Line Maxi dress, $59. This dress is easy and fun!! I love the price too and it’s from one of my favorites store, Macy’s!!
  6. Sunglasses!! Sunglasses are very fashionable, and they are great for protecting your youth!! They protect your eye sights and help aid in reducing the chances for premature crows feet around the eyes (wrinkles, don’t want them!) I love these Michael Kors Sunglasses, M2477S KARMEN, $136!! Simple and classic aviators are so fab, and did I mentioned that I am Michael Kors Obsessed, lol!!
  7. A summer signature scent..My favorite from last summer was Ralph Lauren Big Pony 2, $55. and it will be my main staple this summer too. It is a beautiful floral that is playful and fun on bright summer days!! I got so many compliments on it that I will wear it again this summer. I hope that don’t discontinue this one anytime soon!!
  8. If you are doing lots of walking shopping or at the beach you will definitely want some comfortable sandals. I like these DV by Dolce Vita Shoes, Denny Flat Sandals,$69. These sandals are simple, stylish and will keep your feet happy during your fun shopping or beach excursion.
  9. If you are going to the pool or beach you must have a fun and bright swimsuit!! For me bikini’s are a thing of the past..(Child stretched me out and now I need a tummy tuck, lol)So that is why I am loving this Hula Honey Swimsuit, Halter Crochet Tankini Top Women’s Swimsuit, $28. I love the texture and color!!
  10. Now ladies.. A tote is a must.. If you live in the Austin area you know the bag ordinance is in effective what means we really need to have a tote that fits all, right! That is why this MICHAEL Michael Kors ‘Medium Travel’ Tote. $278 is perfect!! You can fit swimwear, new finds from shopping and in on spot and if you have kids you can fit there things too!!

Foundation Favs: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15 Review

Hey beauties! If you have seen my latest tutorial called “Purplelicious Eyes” on youtube then you already know that I have been wearing a new foundation for this summer. The foundation I have been rocking for most of the summer is by Tarte Cosmetics and it is called the Amazonian Clay 12 hour full coverage foundation SPF15. Phew!! That is a long name for a foundation, lol. I truly did not pick this for the full coverage I was looking for a natural foundation that was some what water resistant, left me with a semi matte finish, and had skincare benefits in it as well. So as a result, my search lead me to the foundation I will be talking about in this post.

About Tarte Cosmetics:

Before I started tarte out of my one bedroom apartment in 1999, I was a total beauty addict like you but quickly became frustrated when I couldn’t find healthy, nourishing cosmetics – everything I found was full of unhealthy, synthetic formulas. And whether it was department store makeup or one of the very few ‘healthy’ makeup lines I was able to find, the packaging was so unglamorous I hardly wanted to buy it let alone take it out of my purse in public!

So I set out to create a line that would prove that glamour can be good for you by pioneering the use of high-performance naturals™ that bring clinical results to the everyday woman! Ten years later tarte is the leader in earth engineered™ beauty offering the widest selection of natural cosmetics full of skinvigorating™ ingredients including our proprietary t5 super fruit complex™ (a blend of the five most active, free-radical fighting super fruits), vitamins, minerals and natural fruit and plant extracts. But it’s not just about what’s in our healthy formulas; it’s what’s not in them that really sets us apart! Our products are formulated without parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances, just to name a few.

We don’t just stop at the formulas – our chic, runway-inspired cases and compacts are more than just pretty packaging. We’re helping reduce green house gas emissions one mascara at a time by creating components that are made from recyclable or post-consumer recycled material and can often be re-used to help reduce environmental waste. We like to say we’re doing the ‘leg work’ to help all of us minimize our carbon footprints.

I hope you enjoy your tarte purchase and remember:
be green, be smart, be tarte!

OneStyling.com: Crush Flat Iron Review

Today’s post will be all about hair tools since it has been a while since I talked about styling products for the hair! A month ago Onestyling.com sent me their Crush line of hair tools for review consideration such as the Crush 1 inch tourmaline flat iron along with a cute mini tourmaline flat iron.

Crush 1 inch Flat Iron:

Information according to Onestyling.com:

  • Wide temperature range (140°F to 450°F) ideal for all hair textures
  • Tourmaline technology provides maximum negative ionic output to lock in moisture and eliminate static and frizz
  • Gentle far infrared heat safely penetrates the hair follicle to minimize heat damage
  • Sleek ergonomic design for easy handling
  • Floating beveled plates allow for optimum styling control
  • Dual voltage makes it ideal for traveling*
  • Professional length swivel cord
  • Available plate sizes: 1″ only
  • Available in:  White/Green, Silver/White, Black/Blue and Raspberry/Silver

Crush Mini Flat Iron:

Information according to Onestyling.com:

  •  Professional ceramic heater with superior heat recovery and maximum temperature of 410°F
  •  Texture IQ™ system automatically calibrates heater based on hair texture
  •  Tourmaline technology provides maximum negative ionic output to lock in moisture and eliminate static and frizz
  •  Gentle far infrared heat safely penetrates the hair follicle to minimize heat damage
  •  Floating beveled plates allow for optimum styling control
  •  Dual voltage makes it ideal for traveling*
  • Available in: White/Green, Silver/White, Black/Blue and Raspberry/Silver

Now my thoughts on both styling tools? Ok. . . Let’s start with the pros and cons of the 1 inch flat iron.

Pros:

  • The flat iron heated up really fast and I need that because I love that snooze button on my alarm clock too much and when I get up late at times I can flat iron my hair in a snap.
  • The cord at the end of this iron swivels which is great! However, I do believe most flat irons has this capability.’
  • The iron is lightweight which means less pressure on my wrist and easy styling too.
  • I love the floating plates on the flat iron.
  • The  variety of heating options.
  • The cord length is perfect. Long enough to style at a distance.
  • Price is realistic at only $80.

Cons:

  • Wish is came with a cooling pad to store the flat iron in after styling with it.

Now for the pros and cons of the mini flat iron.

Pros:

  • Small and convenient to carry in your purse for touch ups.
  • Easy to flat iron baby hairs and short hair styles.
  • Floating plates like the big sister iron.
  • Cord length
  • Price is pretty affordable at $30

Cons:

  • Only one heating temperature
  • Cord does not swivel like the big sister iron

Overall, I really enjoyed testing both of these flat irons over the past few months and I truly feel that these flat irons are worth the price that company is selling them for. I also feel that both irons heat evenly and I did not have to worry about the iron over heating my hair and causing damage to them at all. If you are in the market for a new flat iron I would definitely recommend Onestyling.com.

New Sensa Journey Take 2: Month 1 Results

Happy New Year!! I hope that you all had a great holiday season and are ready to take on the year of 2012 with a bang! As many of you know I decided to get back on Sensa Weight Loss System after thanksgiving with a start weight of 190lbs (I am 5’8″ tall). It was fun getting started with the sensa and also trying the vitamins, quenches and the chews. With working retail management sometimes my meals we stretched out a lot, so the Sensa chews and the quenches were a God send. They helped curb my appetite so I wouldn’t over eat when it was time time. My only challenge for me in getting enough water in for the day which is something that I will continue to work on in the New Year of 2012. I need to keep the work permanently attached to my hip, lol.

Many of you may ask did I exercise and my answer will be minimally. I take martial arts 2-3 times a week which helped me maintain my weight and lose a little while using the sensa. However, I do feel that if I worked out more like I used to I would have lost more weight. You may wonder, what type of exercise do I do? While, I really enjoy cardio workouts like step aerobics, kick boxing, and jogging therefore I need to get my mind ready to do that along with weight lifting too. By doing  all of that it will help me build lean muscle which in the long run helps the body burn more fat which equal loss of inches and loss of weight. So all in all that will be a goal for me in this new year. My struggle is running to the coach when I get home from work, or to the computer to Facebook or YouTube, so I will have to minimize that in the new year or plan out my day where my exercise is complete in the morning and maintain control over eating at night time when I am not hungry. Do any of you struggle with that? I work retail management and my hours are so irregular that it is a challenge

I have to say the first 3 weeks were easy for me until Christmas came along. With all of the holiday eating came a stop in my weight loss too! I did not keep my control with the portions or kept hydrated with water so my weight loss stopped during week 4. (0lbs lost) I am retaining like crazy!! Did any of you experience that during the holidays? Sometimes the holidays are tough, but I will not beat myself up. I know what I need to do in order to gain control which means back to the healthy eating, exercising and drinking mega amounts of water.

You all may be wondering what type of foods did I eat? Did I prepare all of my meals from scratch? No way! I am too busy for that. With working full-time, busy mom, wife and taekwondo student and mom some day it is impossible to prepare everything. So some days I will prepare foods for my family and take left overs to work and on other days I will make fast easy meals or lean cuisine it too! It just works for me and avoids less stress too. So, I guess if you are in the same boat as I am you will have to experiment on what foods you like and make that a staple item in order for you to have success. I also came across some great healthy recipes from some cookbooks I picked up too! My meal sample meal:

Breakfast ideas:

  • Vanilla Yogurt parfait (my fav)
  • Instant  oatmeal with bananas with orange juice
  • Breakfast Tacos with egg whites with fruit
Lunches:
  • Lean Cuisines (fast for convenience)
  • Salad
  • Tuna Salad with veggies
  • Turkey Sandwich with Veggies
Dinner:
  • Catfish with veggies
  • Orange chicken with rice
  • Lean Cuisines (when working)

My results for month 1 are a total of 5lbs losts which brings me to a weight of 185. My measurements are as follows:

Bust: 38″ (same, no change)

Waist: 34.25″ (lost -.75″)

Hips: 44″

I am excited about the weight loss and I can not weight to see what month 2 brings me too! My goal is to lose 10 pounds this 2 month with the new goals I have into place. Also at the end of month 2 my goal is to have progress pictures ready to share with you all too. Until post you all be well and healthy and again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hugs,

Tasha :)
