Hair Care: Washing & Conditioning Sew-in Extensions

Hey my beauty chameleons, if you follow me on youtube then you already have seen my video on how I care for my hair when I am wearing extensions/weave that have been sewn-in. Many subscribers of mine have been requesting a video on how I get my Milky Way’s Saga Gold Premium Yaky Remi hair weave to last so long without the matting and tangling. I honestly don’t do anything special, but following my hair care regime. For my weekly wash I use the following items:

So, overall I am not a professional hair stylist my any means. I just read books that educate and ask my stylist lots of questions too and I recommend you do the same because everyone’s hair is different. Anyway, if you would like to see my process on me using the items mentioned above feel free to watch my tutorial provided below.

Thank you for posting this video. I currently have a 10 and 12 inch in my hair and I have had it fo approximately six weeks now. I can say that I do love the hair but it has been tangling. The tangles come out easily with a quick brush.

I will definitely get this hair again but I am going for the 10 inch. I find that my real hair blends extremely well and I really have no complaints about this hair. I am going to purchase the products you have recommended to use.

I love your site. Thanks again.

Anytime! I am glad that this info was helpful. I still have the same hair in after 2 months now. I will have them taken out to get a thorough cleanse and put back in, unless I decide to splurge on the hair!

It’s funny you asked! I just removed it two weeks ago and go new hair. I kept the old hair so if I would like to re-wear the style I have it. But I did purchase new hair, same brand, and had my stylist create a longer version. So if you watched my latest youtube video I was wearing the new hair. I wanted to purchase some indian hair, but $$$$ yikes! We will see though, lol :)

how often do you wash the hair

Natasha makes a good point here. The amount of product you use will slowly build up over the week and you will therefore need to wash it more often the more hair products you use. Just make sure your shampoo is mild but will really clean off all the hair styling products though otherwise it will again build up leaving you with a tired and lack luster appearance.

I was wondering, I just got my extensions put in and my stylist told me not to wash them, and to have them professionally washed….can I just wash them myself?
The hair is Yaki hair, bu Onnyx Essence?

I am sure you can? i would ask her what products she recommend with the hair! I always wash my own extensions to save a little extra $$$ for makeup, lol.

I was wondering if you do this everyday? if not what what to you do to your hair everyday at a reg basics.

I don’t wash my hair everyday! Only 1-2 times a week. The products I do use on a regular depending on the condition of my hair and the extensions.

Depending on how dry my hair gets daily I will spritz my hair and the extension with water to hydrate it. I keep a spritz bottle filled with fresh water
Next I will moisturize my hair (real hair) with the olive oil moisturizing lotion again depending how dry my hair is (2-3 days a week)
I will seal my hair and ends with Kera Cares Essential oils (very little) (2-3 days a week)

As far as styling products I will use ampro styling gel with protein to lay my sides down For curling my hair I will use either TreSemme curl activator or Living Proof wave shaping. The if a need a holding spray I will used Garnier Fructise Anti Frizz holding spray.

      I hope this helps!
      Tasha :)
