Hair Extensions: Halley’s Curls Review

Hey my hairnistas out there that love to have the weaves looking fierce! I recently came across HalleyCurls.com on youtube, through my obsessiveness of watching reviews and tutorials myself, I was personally looking for a new brand of hair extensions to try even though my Lord & Cliff Art Remi Hair lasted me so long I wanted to try another brand to see how it compares to the brands I have tried in the past.

Back on July 16th I decided to order my first Halleys Curls hair from Halleyscurls.com. The ordering process was easy and to my surprise my order arrived very quickly the following Monday! Wow, right!!

Here's my Order:

Halleys Curls

I was impressed with the packaging because it looked like the packaging you get from your local beauty supply store. It also came with the business cards along with my receipt and return policy. The hair that I ordered was the 12" & 14" Malaysian Salon Relaxed hair. The reason why I got this hair is due to the texture. The hair resembles the texture of relaxed African-American hair! I am not kidding it does!! So, before I got to excited I went ahead and started to prep my hair for my install. The recommend to do the follow be for installing the hair:

I have to say that I have never used these products because I thought that I was supposed to use products that are for "African American" hair, but according to my stylist I was wrong. The products are great because they will not agitate your cuticles and strip your hair of vital moisture it needs to retain. So I am going to used this product on my natural hair too. Why? Because the product smells fabulous and the hair did not have that dried out coarse texture after washing. So. . .Tasha LOVES Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Line of products!! I even got my hair lady interested in it too.

The are the products I used By Dove:

Hair Preparation & Drying:

Co Washing Halleys Curls

Dry time

I have to say that this was a process, but necessary to get the hair ready for install. After the hair dries you can seal the wefts on the hair with Aleene's hair glue to help minimize shedding. However, after talking with the Halleys Curls they assured me that I did not have to glue the wefts no longer because the wefts are sewn with such quality that the shedding is minimal without gluing the weft. So the next time around I will not glue the wefts because it took FOREVER, lol to do this task.

Anyway, I got my hair installed a few day later and I was soooo excited because I love the way the hair feels and I love my new style for this fall season!

My New Style:

My Hair Install

Back View

I love this new style!! I am feeling a bit Kim Kardashian with the dark curly locks, but I will gets used it. I am just so used to my 1b30 hair color I wore this entire spring and summer. Many have been commenting on my Youtube channel do have a frontal installed or a closure? The answer to that question is no! My stylist left my hair out on top by the part section of my style and blended in my hair with the extensions, pretty cool, huh? I honest don't like wearing closures because I feel so hot and my scalp needs to breath.

All in all, I love this new hair! I have been wearing this hair for a week and not tangles or extreme shedding at all! If you looking for something like this for your next install definitely check out Halleyscurls.com! I think they are still having they sale that end July 31st!! Anyway, if you would like to see my video review click on the video below. I also have a playlist on my Youtube channel called Hair extension and Hair Care. There you will see products I use on my hair and styling tools I am loving for the moment.

Hair Extensions Review: Lord & Cliff Art Remi Hair

This post is for all of my beauty chameleons out there that love to change their hairstyles through wearing hair extensions. I am one that is quick to change up my hairstyle, whether it is short and sassy or long and flowing I love to wear my extensions. For me, the best way I love to wear extensions is to have them sewn-in. I like sewn in hair over quick weaves any day because it is easier to wash and style without having to worry about the glue coming off. I also like it because if I am on vacation and want to go swimming or   get my hair wet again I don’t have to mess with any glue of any sort. The only downside of wearing any hair extension is finding the best quality hair that will last longer than 6 weeks. I mean good hair that you can reuse without worry about spending hundreds of dollars on fresh new hair for a new install especially if you know that you are going to be wearing the same style again.

I have been wearing sew in for 2 years and I know I have spend lots of money on hair because the hair becomes tangled, sheds too much, or matte too quickly even with washing and taking good care of the hair. Recently, the brands that I have been happy with in the past have been the sensational goddess hair and the saga gold remi hair. Both brands are great when you are wearing 10 inches length hair or less, however when I have worn lengths of 12 inches or more then hair wears fine until the 6th and 7th week and the hair begins to matte and tangle like crazy.

As a result, of this frustration I decided to tryout a new brand of hair. If you watch my youtube channel NHOP76 you may have noticed my hair is longer and I have been wearing a new brand of hair. The brand of hair I purchased back in April 2010 was the Lord and Cliff Art Remi Hair. this hair was recommended by the owner of my local beauty supply store. She  stated that this hair is much better than the Saga gold remi hair and that it was last longer. The only thing is that this brand of hair in the 1B30 14 inches cost a bit more ($99 per bag) compared to the $79 per bag I usually spend on the other brand. But I was okay with it because I trusted the lady since she has been so good to me in the past. The store I purchased it from is called:

Fashion Accent located in the Austin, TX area on 9717 North Lamar BLVD, Austin, TX 78753. The phone number is (512)339-1878.  I love this store and I have never had a bad experience there, so if you live in this area totally go check it out!! If you don’t live in the Austin area or can not find this hair at your local beauty supply store you can also find it online at: www.marcishairextensions.com

Product Info:

They say that the Lord and Cliff Art hair is so beautifully soft and silky! It’s 100% Remy Human Hair for Weaves and Extensions. If you want to find yaky hair weave, then this is the hair that you have been searching for. This is the best texture match to Permed African American Hair! This Ultra Premium Quality Yaky Hair has all the cuticles facing one direction making it tangle free and easy to maintain.

Anyway, I was so excited to try this hair out, so my stylist installed that same weekend I purchased it and I was so happy!! The hair was easy to install and the result was beautiful. The texture of the hair is like relaxed hair and let me tell you it feels smooth. Even after washing the hair the texture gets better! I have been wearing this hair for the past 7 weeks now and I am still amazed as to how well it is lasting.

Pros: The hair is easy to style straight and curly, and the hair is soft and wears well in this hot Texas heat. The texture of the hair is awesome.

Cons: The price $99, but I guess that is the price you will pay for good hair, Minimal shedding and tangling.

Now many of my youtube subscribers have been asking how much hair do I use on my full sew-in and how I take care of my hair everyday because I exercise a lot. So, I will share with you all my routine and regime too. (Keep in mind I am not a professional hair stylist, but I just do what my stylist recommend me to do and this is what works for me. So, always consult with a professional before making any changes to your hair care regime because everyone’s hair type is not all the same)

  1. For a full install how many packages to I use? I purchase 2 packs because I like my hair to be full and thick.
  2. Do I sew in my wear myself? No, I see a professional for that although I would love to learn because it does cost to have the hair installed and tighten. For the install $100 & Up and to tighten $25 and up.
  3. What products do I use to care for my hair and the extension? I use the Creme of Nature Sunflower & Coconut Detangling Conditioning Shampoo: 15.2 OZ , Ojon Restorative Leave-in Treatment 4.2 fl oz (125 ml), CHI Infra Treatment 12oz
, and Nexxus Heat Protexx Style Spray 8.5 oz. (Case of 6). For moisture I will spray water on my hair and then seal my hair with either Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey or Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion
. Finally to hold my style at times I will use TRESemme Curl activator for my curly styles or I will just you Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti-Humidity hairspray. Lastly I will use my Ampro Pro-Style Protein Gel Super Hold Jar 10.5 oz
for smooth down the edges of my hair.

All in all I am loving this hair so far and I will be using this hair again in my next install. I am thinking of just going with the dark brown or should I stick with the 1B30? Let me know what you think. Now, to end if you have a wonderful human hair that you love to use for your installs please share!! I know everyone is always looking for a brand of human hair that they can really on and reuse again without worry about buying new hair for each install.

Hair Extensions: How To Get Big Wavy Curls

Do you wear hair extensions or weaves and are board to death of wearing your extension bone straight? I know many women including myself are dying for big wavy curly hair like celebrities such as Kim Kardashion, Jennifer Lopez and many more. Well, lately I have been playing around with my sew in extensions and figured out how to create a beautiful wavy curls with out taking hours to achieve the look! If you are subscribe to my youtube channel NHOP76 you may already seen me sport this style in many videos already and many of my subscribers have been requesting a tutorial on how to create my wavy curly hair! Well, today I will be sharing with you all how I create this look in less thank 30 minutes.

Now you may be thinking will I have to use expensive hair tools and products to achieve this look? The answer is no! You can find the tools I used from you local drugstore and Sally Beauty stores in you local neighborhoods. The products I used I have been using for over a month now and I completely love them and would totally recommend them to use.

What you will need and why are:

A Vented Paddle Brush: The one I use is by Revlon and I like to use this one to brush out all of the tangles out of the hair, so that the hair is nicely separated and even. As a result, when you apply your styling products the hair will gone on even. If you can not find the same exact brush any vented paddle brush will do. In addition to being a get brush to separate the hair this brush is also used to aid in blow drying the hair too!
A Boar Hair Brush: If great for blending in your natural hair in with the extension or weave. Since I do have some of my natural hair exposed at the crown and nape of my head this brush is great for blending and smooth the hair into the extension. It also creates a nice shine to the hair too!
Curling Iron: The curling that I love to use is Hot Tools by Helen of St. Troy. The Hot Shot Tools Ceramic Tourmaline Curling Iron creates soft, shiny beautiful hair. Professional features include ceramic and tourmaline plates that emit gentle far-infrared heat and passive negative ions to preserve hair’s natural moisture, seal the cuticle and eliminate frizz. Hair is soft, conditioned and radiant. Pulse Auto Heat Control provides precise temperatures for uninterrupted, consistent heat. The Hot Shot Tools Ceramic Tourmaline Curling Iron heats up quickly and heat recovery is instant. I love this Iron and I love the fact that it heats up quickly and even. I use the 450 setting. Hot Shot Tools Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron $29.99
TRESemme Curl Activator Spray: This product defines and freezes curls that are formed with the heat from a curling iron. Its vitamin-enriched formula supplies the moisture curls need to prevent stubborn flyaways. It’s ideal for hair that usually doesn’t keep waves – the lightweight holding polymers combine flexibility and holding power for perfect long-lasting ringlets. You can TRESemme Curl Activator Spray at any drugstore for $4.99
Garnier Fructis: This versatile hairspray with natural bamboo extract, Provides 24-hour, bounce back hold — even in 90% humidity! It gives you firm control over any style. The Hold Level: Ultra Strong. How to use: Hold can 10-12 inches from hair and spray in even, all-around motion. GARNIER Fructis Style Anti-Humidity Hairspray Full Control 8.25oz. $7.00
Hair Clips: Any hair clips will do to help section off your hair and make it easier to style smaller sections at a time. You can find these cute little clips at any local beauty supply store, sally beauty, and any drugstore as well. I purchased mine from my local beauty supply store. The package came with 9 clips for $2.99. So they are very affordable.

Directions:

  1. First comb out and section off hair. If it helps to section the hair off into quarter with your hair clips then do so.
  2. Take the very first section and spritz hair very lightly with the TRESemme curl activator spray.
  3. Then take a small 1 inch section of hair a curl the hair on the barrel of the curling iron and curl the hair away from the hair. Hold the iron there for a few seconds and the release the hair from the iron and let the curl cool off. Letting the curl cool off will help it maintain it’s curl.
  4. Continue to curl the remainder of the hair.
  5. Once all sections are curled to your liking use your fingers to comb through the curls to loosen then curls up, so that they will end up big and wavy!
  6. Now begin to blend your natural hair, if it is exposed with the boar hair paddle brush into the extensions and once that it is done you are ready for the final step which is spritzing your hair with the Garnier Fructis spray in order to help the hair hold its style and block humidity too!

Once you have completed this you will have beautiful big wavy curls for sure!! I hope that you enjoyed this information and if you would like to have more tutorials like this or have any suggestions for tutorials for hair styles with extensions please leave some comments below.

Hair: Milky Way Saga Gold remy Yaky Hair Update

Remy-YakiLadies!! If you all watch me on youtube before Christmas I recently had my extensions sew in and I created a video to let everyone know what the results were and how much I love my hair. Many viewers loved the way my hair turned out and wanted me to create a update date video on how long my Milky Way Saga Gold Remy Yaky Hair last.  So, I did. I have to say I LOVE this hair. It has been 3 weeks and the hair look awesome!!

Last night I washed it and my natural hair and it still look as great or even better then when I first put this hair in. I originally purchase this hair from savebeauty.com. The reason why I purchase this hair from them is because of the price point. It was less expensive to purchase this hair online then getting it from my local beauty supply store, and the quality of the hair is fabulous. There is no matting, tangling and shedding with this hair which is what I love. You can also straighten and curl this because it is 100% human hair.

This is what my packages look like:

remi hair 2

The color I order was 1B30 and I love the color. Many friends and clients of mine say this hair look great with my complexion, so I am very pleased with this color and I am so happy!! For the style on my hair I order two bags and I ended with a little extra left over. Anyway, if you are curious to know my thoughts and see my update thoughts check out the video below:
