Illamasqua’s Nail Varnish: Nomad

If you haven’t seen my previous post “Obsessed: Illamasqua’s Nail Varnishes for Spring” you all know that I am currently obsessed with Illamasqua’s Nail Varnishes!! Well, from that post I decided to play around with one of the new shades from my spring/summer nail polish haul called Nomad. This color is described as a bright jade with a glossy finish which is true!

002 new2

nomad front back 1a

  • True to color with I high shiny finish.
  • Only require two coats to achieve a color intensity.
  • .5 fl oz. of polish

  • The price is $17 per bottle, so kind of pricey and worth it!!
  • The square top can make it difficult to polish if you are used to polishing your nails with a skinny or cylinder top.

Have any of you tried any Illamsqua’s nail varnishes? What are you favorite shades?? Likes or dislikes? Please share by leaving your comments below. And….if you would like for me to film a video review on my  youtube channel please let me know! Until next time have a great day!!

Obsessed: Illamasqua’s Nail Varnishes For Spring

illamasqua collage2

Omg!! It has been a while since I have shared with you all products I am loving or completely obsessed with. Well…. at the moment I have been completely obsessed with Illamasqua’s nail varnishes this spring! Ever since I have seen them on Sephora’s nail studio sparkling at me I had to given them a try!! At first I did not want to buy them because the price of these beauties are $14-$17 per polish, yikes!! However after reading some of the reviews on fellow beauty blogs, youtube and sephora online I just had to purchase and try them for myself.

If you follow me on facebook you may have seen my very first purchase of Illamaqua’s Jo’mina nail varnish, so fabulous!! The brand claims that:

The formula is long-wearing and chip-resistant and contains individual finishes from matte to high gloss. Apply two coats for high intensity

And, after trying and wearing Jo’mina I was sold and ready to, you know what? Purchase MORE!! I am just amazed with the color payoff, the fact that I only need 2 coats to get a smooth finish and the color does not fade during long to wear. So you might be thinking what are the color names? Ok…starting from left to right:

  • My first purchase was Illamasqua’s Nail Varnish in Jo’mina. This nail varnish is a beautiful light lavender and according to the brand the formula is long-wearing and chip-resistant.  So, that is what lead me to purchase more!
  • Illamasqua Nail Varnish Collide is a hot pink/fuchsia color that is muy caliente!! I will be polishing my nails in this tonight!!
  • Lament which is a hot bright orange. This one is currently sold out online at Sephora, however you can find this one at your local SEPHORA and SEPHORA inside JCPenney stores.
  • Illamasqua Nail Varnish Nomad is a blue/green tone that is perfect play on the mint green nail trend.
  • Illamasqua Nail Varnish Milf….I don’t love the name, lol! However, another beautiful mint green for spring/summer.

Wouldn’t you agree that these colors are perfect for spring/summer? I know! Now….what nail colors are you obsessed with for this spring/summer?? I would love to know!!

Also…would you have like to see swatches of these colors in a future blog post or youtube video?? If so, please leave me some feedback by leaving a comment below! Until the next beauty obsession have a fabulous day!!, Inc.

NOTD: Black & Silver Tiger Inspired Nails with Bling

Today I am sharing with you my nails of the day! This look was inspired by the lovely Jennisse Makeup on youtube. She is another makeup beauty enthusiast I love to watch on youtube among many others.  This past holiday season she created a  nail tutorial (click “here” to watch) that was so beautiful and colorful with animal print design using JulieG713 (on youtube) nail polish line. I was so inspired that I decided to create a similar design on my nails with my own twist. Since it is winter I usually don’t wear a lot of color on my nails, so I decided to create a black & silver nail design with a little bling on my ring finger for some added fun!

Products I used for this look:

I hope that you all enjoy this quick NOTD and if you like definitely try this look for yourself it is so much fun! And, if you would like to see this in a tutorial leave your comments below.

Art Club’s Glam Instant Nails: Black, White & Bling

Hello my nail polish divas out there! This post is for you! I have been holding off on this post for a while because one I was sick earlier this month and second I was learning how to use my new camcorder just for this and filming videos too! Well, at the end of January I was at my local Sally Beauty Supply store of course just picking up so supplies for completing my sew-in, right? And you know when you got to Sally's you just can't go in with out looking at the fun nail polishes, right? Well. . . I was looking at my favorite China glaze products and looked down and came across Art Club's Instant Nail stickers and I was in aw of all of the bling, bilng, lol. So you know me I had to pick up a few to try out!

I picked them up because I wanted to see how they compare to Sally Hansen's Instant Nail stickers. The difference between the too are:

  1. The Art Club instant Nails only comes with 15 stickers and that's it for $3.99. While the Sally Hansen's comes with the same amount, but you also receive a nail file and a orange stick for $8.99. So yet the Sally 'sis more expensive it's more convenient for those that do not own a stash of nail supplies you have all of the supplies needed without having to make a trip to the store for an orange stick and file.
  2. The Art Club is a bit thicker and blingier, however the downside to this is even after applying a top coat (Seche Vite) after a few days due to the thickness of the sticker the top layer of the sticker begins to peel 🙁 With the Sally Hansen's the sticker is much thinner and last a bit longer with a top coat like Seche Vite. You will not experience the peeling like Art club's. So keep that in mind if you are a busy lady and do not have the time to make adjustments during your busy work wee.

All in all, I like the Art club instant nail stickers and will continue to rock them because I get bored of wearing the same nail color or design after a few days, lol. I am totally a nail polish freak, hee hee. But if you are not like me and need them to last I would think about the pros and cons mention before buying. Also, before I forget I noticed that these stickers are not available online yet. If any of you beauties are found them for purchase online please leave the link in the comment section below, Thanks!!

Anyway. . since I had so much fun playing with them I decided to share some picks and a step by step tutorial for you all to see. I hope that you all enjoy and until next time treat your nails like jewels and not like tools!

Sephora By OPI’s Iris I was Thinner: NOTD

Hey beauties! I love this time of the year because I am so ready to break out some of my spring nail colors to wear day to day. Today I was in the mood to wear SEPHORA by OPI Nail Colour Iris I Was Thinner, $9.50! This shade is a opaque medium Iris purple shade. I decided to apply two coats in order to achieve the look that you see in this photo.

Now that my nails are growing back out I am really more motivated in embellishing my nails. You may ask, how long does this polish last? Well. . . I polished my nails on Friday and the good things is that the color intensity last a long time, but. . . as far as being chip resistant I guess if you do not have to bath your child and upkept a household your polish with not chip. In my case in chipped in 3 days only because I was cleaning and peeling off labels with my nails. I think I need to carry tweezers with me because peeling of price labels are torture on the nails, lol. How do you keep you nails from chipping? I would love to know.

Beauty Chameleon’s Favorites: Nailpolishes & Colors!

Nail polish, everyone woman loves to adorn their nails with color. Whether the color is bright and daring or soft and subdue nail polish can evoke a fun statement about the wearer. I love nail polish! It is an easy accessory that can be added to change my mood or accessorize my OFTD. Well, recently a sweet subscriber from my youtube channel NHOP76 had a special request to learn what my favorite nail polish brands where. She was very tired of buying nail polishes that would be either to watery or chip off as fast as you just applied the color. And, believe me I can totally relate to that so Makeupfriend this post is for you!

My nail polish collection is filled with brands from the drugstore like Sally Hansen's, Revlon, and maybelline to polishes you may find at Ulta like OPI, Orly & China Glaze from Sally Beauty Supply, and my latest favorites Sephora by OPI and MAC. I personally own about 90+ nail polishes so, instead of showing them all I decided to pick out my favorite colors and brands to share with you all. Before I talk about the color specifically I do recommend to used the following nail products to strengthen your nails as a base coat and a wonderful fast drying top coat.

Favorite Nail Basics:

Orly Nail Defense: What they say about this product, "Orly Nail Defense is protein and gelatin enriched to fortify weak nails. Bonds nail layers together, sealing the free edge to prevent peeling and chipping." When I use it fills in my nails and protects my nails from staining too!

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat: What they say about this product, "Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat's patented formula allows top coat to penetrate through the nail lacquer to the base coat, forming a single solid coating over the nail plate. Can be used on natural nails, nail enhancements and pedicures." This product is amazing!! For one, you call apply this polish and freshly applied nail polish and it dries the nail polish in less than 5 minutes!! There are many times I needed a color on fast and this product never fails me!

Now for some fun!! Keep in mind these are my favorites and what may work for me may not work for you, but in any case you will have a blast checking them out!! Here are my favorites Corals & Pinks, Nudes, Pinks & Purple, and Blues:

MAC Nail Polishes, $12: This is the first time I have used MAC nail polishes so this will be a bias review on MAC. The nail polish you see above is scorcher. With this shade I had to apply 2-3 coats to get the opacity you see me wear in videos, so to be far this one is not bad. Color is true and the wear is about the same as the other brands I will be talking about in this post. Overall is it worth the $12 you pay, maybe not.

OPI Classic Shades Nail Lacquer, $6-$8: Is one of my favorite nail polishes. I love the color variety and the fact that the polishes go on true to color. The only thing I wish OPI nail polishes had was nail hardeners in them. The chipping time is again 3 days for me because I am a mom and I am always cleaning something and getting my nails wet a lot.

Orly Nail Lacquer, $8: I only own two of these nail lacquers and the are wonderful. I only have to put on 1-2 coats of this polish and the color is fab! No streaking and true to color for sure!! I need to get more of these in my life! Same with the OPI nail polishes they will begin to chip after 3 days, so definitely re-apply another coat.

China Glaze Nail Lacquer with Hardeners, $5.99: This is the least expensive at of all the nail polishes I have mention and my most favorite! I like the fact that the color is true, the nail lacquer has hardeners in the polish which will strengthen your nails will wearing the polish and the have such a huge variety of colors! Depending on the color this polish can chip within 2-3 days, but overall I LOVE this polish!!

SEPHORA by OPI, $9: These nail polishes are formulated and made by OPI. So the quality and wear is the same as I mentioned before. I like the fact that they have some trendy colors and they are much easier to find in store than the OPI nail polishes at times.

Overall, these are my favorites and regardless of nail polish brand you decided to use just remember to do the following to maintain your gorgeous manicure: Clean your nails and make sure your nails are free from any dirt and oil residue. This will ensure that you get a nice bond of your base coat to your nails. Next apply you base coat, follow with your favorite nail polish shade and finish off with a top coat to minimize chipping of the nail polish.

NOTD: MAC “To The Beach” Scorcher

Hey all, I almost forgot to share with you all this beautiful orange/coral nail polish I picked up with my MAC “To The Beach” Haul in June. For all of my chameleons that love a fiery orange nail polish, this one is for you. Surprisingly this is my first ever MAC nail polish purchase ever and I have to say this one was not as watery as people had describe on youtube and other blogs. I guess it depends on the color and pigmentation of each shade. The color I picked up is called Scorcher and it is definitely that. A perfect color for the nails and extra gorgeous for the toenails too! I only had to apply 2 coats of the polish and it was beautiful. As far as the wear of the polish, it last about 2-3 days. Mind you, I am a mom so I cook, clean and work so my nails take a beating, lol. However, overall I was very satisfied with the color and I am glad that I added it to my growing nail polish collection. Hummm. . . Collection maybe I will do a collection blog or video! If you would like to see a collection post or video please leave a comment below. Until the next NOTD, stay fabulous!
