Beauty Haul 2014: Edition #1

beauty haul 2014 1

How many of you love watching beauty hauls videos on YouTube? I know I do! It’s always fun to see what other beauties out there are loving at the moment or not loving. Sometimes when I watch these types of videos it inspires me to go out and explore the beauty market for either new skincare to improve the health of my skin, new color items to enhance my features or new hair accessories to rock when I am feeling a bit more fabulous!

Now…before you ask.. yes I did purchase the items in this photo.. These are items that either I regularly use or watched to try something new. Most of the items mentioned have been collectively purchase over the past 2 months and man was it fun looking for new thing to try!!

If you follow me on instagram I have been blowing my page over the past 5 months with some of my favorite nails colors from Sephora’s new line Formula X for Sephora!! Now if you know me well I already own ALOT of the polishes. Not to mention there is selection of shades I have won from a company contest that I will share with you later. (lot’s a formula X special effects polish, yahooo!!!) In the photo I purchased Formula X For Sephora New Neutrals Reckless a little denim blue shade…. and Formula X For Sephora New Neutrals Perfection a smoky violet shade. The formula X nail polishes has really impressed with how long the wear and how pigmented the colors are! I like them better then the Sephora by OPI!!

I’m a girl that also love glitter on the nails from time to time so feel in love with Debora Lippmann’s Let’s go crazy which is a gorgeous royal purple and Va Va Voom which is a beautiful sapphire glitter for your Virgos out there !! I believe these shades are only available in-store for I purchased them both at a Sephora Inside JCPenney. Otherwise if you are a online shopper you can go directly to

For the lips I decided to check out the most raved about drugstore lip product from Revlon’s Colorburst Matte balm collection! At the moment I have been into matte and long wear lip color. I guess I don’t like to touch up through out the day and this type of formula helps me out in that arena! I picked up 3 shades in Showy, Shameless and mischievous.

These matte lip balms gives off a beautiful velvety Matte Look.  They are also Moisture Rich Balm that contains Revlon’s Our Triple Butter Complex of Shea, Coconut and Mango butters that is supposed to nourish lips. You can find this at your local drugstore. It appears they released these prior to Christmas and my be hard to find. I found the at my local H-E-B! Can’t wait to play!!

You all already know I LOVE Urban Decay shows!! I used them in the majority of my videos I have the NAKED 1 and now the Urban Decay Naked3 Palette !! The most sold out palette of the holiday season!! Initially I was not going to purchase this one…..and I decided too because it was so different for the original one!! I will definitely have a review on this one soon! Maybe even a giveaway if I can locate on to purchase, lol! In addition to the urban decay palette I also decided to purchase the Cover Girl clump crush mascara for my tiny lashes. I like that the wand is small and easy to load my lashes on the wand. So, we will see how this compare to my Peter Thomas Roth Mascara!

I SOOOO love Josie Maran’s Argan oil, so out of curiosity I had to purchase her matchmaker foundation!! This foundation is so cool because if blends to a shade that matches your skintone! I was just going to purchase the foundation alone….and I noticed Sephora carries a set called “Argan Matchmaker Complexion Kit”. For $68 I got a blush, full size Argan oil light, powder and the matchmaker foundation!! I love it so far. It’s light and soft to the touch!

Other items purchased..

  1. Sephora customize skincare set only at Sephora Inside JCPenney
  2. Ole Henriksen Power Peel
  3. Hair accessories

Beauty Faves: My Top 10 Beauty Favorites of 2013

beauty favs2013
I can’t believe how fast 2013 went. It seems like it was only yesterday I was sharing with you all my beauty favorites of 2012 and now it’s time for me to reflect on what my top beauty favorites were from 2013. That’s a hard one for me because I usually end up with a lot of favorites and if you know me well I have a lot! So today I decide to sit down and think about what were the top 10 things I grabbed for the most in 2013? And what I mean beauty items I was obsessed with on a day by day basis.

1.  Clarisonic Mia(TM) Skin Cleansing System Lavender clarisonic lavendar

If you don’t own one you should make that your 2014 goal to get one in order to improve your skin! The What I love about the Clarisonic cleansing system is that is cleanses your make-up 6 times better than washing with a wash towel or your hands resulting in clearer pores, reduced pores size, and your favorite skincare absorbing in the skin much better!! As a result you will have healthier glowing skin!!

2.  Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Extra Creamy Cleansershiseido benefiance

The next thing I grab for is my favorite cleanser which was the Shiseido Benefiance creamy cleanser!! This beauty deep cleanses your skin with such rich lather without leaving your skin feeling dry and taught. If anything with using the clarisonic with the shiseido my skin feels so smooth and soft to the touch! I am dying to run out!

3.  Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Turbounwrinkle

Yes!! I am seeing signs of aging on my 37 year old skin  and that is why I am loving Peter Thomas Roth’ Un-Wrinkle Turbo! I mainly use it on my forehead due to the fact that I am very expressive which causes the horizontal wrinkles in that area. Boooooo! If you are suffering from major expression lines on the face this one I highly recommend using! This product is formulated with18 potent antiaging neuropeptides and peptides at 72 percent includes the original Un-Wrinkle® blend at 23 percent and now turbo-charged with an additional 49 percent. Can you say and bottle filled with pure awesomeness!!

4.  Josie Maran 100 percent Pure Argan Oil 1.7 ozjosie maran

Yes.. I fell on the oil bandwagon last year and I am glad that I did! My skintype is combo/oily in most cases and when I used this for the first time last year I was so impressed! For some reason this product balanced out my oil production making my skin less oily in areas along with leaving me with a healthy glow and soft skin. I also love the fact that this is a multitasking product. Josie Maran states that this product can be used on the ends of the hair, cuticles and anywhere on the body which is so fab! Glowing skin everywhere, lol!

5.  Kat Von D tattoo cover concealer 34kvd

When it comes to complexion products I reached for my kat von d concealer! When I have blemishes, dark circles under the eyes from working too hard or spending too much time on the computer I love reaching for this concealer! It’s action packed with coverage without giving me that cake face look. This concealer is oil free, transfer and water resistant leaving you with a flawless look!! You can only find this product exclusively at Sephora!

6.  MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation 173mufe pf

In order to finish my flawless look I reach for this powder consistently. I look that smooth skin like finished I got from this powder. I also like the fact that this powder can be used wet or dry. Now… I mean you can literally wet the powder directly in the pan and the powder will dry back to normal. I thought that was so cool! I also like that when I used it wet I got almost satiny finish. Must try if you are lucky to find the right tone, for this foundation can be a little too yellow or red for deeper skin tones. As a result, I really recommend visiting Sephora to get color matched on this one.

7.  Urban Decay naked paletteurban_decay_naked

The naked palette became my go to for the busy days of 2013. When I needed to get ready quickly for work everyday this palette was the perfect fit! Since my skin tone is deeper and yellow the undertones worked perfectly for me. I also loved it when I traveled in this past year!! All of the colors I needed are in this palette and I love the fact that I can easily transition from a daytime look to a night time like in seconds!! Now….I know you are probably going to ask.. what about the naked 2 and naked 3?? I will come it with a comparison swatch very soon and let you know how they work on my skin tone too!

8.  Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Tipsy 0.2 oztarte tipsy

For cheeks, I LOVE Tarte’s tipsy blush. First of all this blush is formulated with amazonian clay which minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and it keeps the product in place. As a result leaving it on your skin for 12 hours!! I love not having to touch up my blush during the day time!! In addition to that this beauty give me such a warm glow!! Definitely a must have!! Spring is right around the corner!

9.  MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge 4 Chestnutaqua rouge

Ok… this was my holy grail of long wear lip colors of 2013!! First of all I love how this neutral warm tone looked against my skin and to top that off this color stayed on my lips all day long! I literally had to use the make up for ever eye make up remover to take it off at night!! Now.. I will say if you do not like matte lip products this one is not for you today! However, if you do totally give this one a try!!

10.  Ralph Lauren Pony #2 eau de toliette pony_2

For a good smell good. I was in love with the Ralph Lauren Pony 2 fragrance! It’s has a beautifully soft, sweet scent that is playful and flirty at the same time!! I used this one throughout the entire summer months. I swear I ended up purchasing two bottles in 2013!! If you would love to know the specific notes they are as follows: Cranberry, Tonka Mousse.

I am sure I could list more things and that would take a lifetime, lol. I hope that you enjoyed my 10 favorites and I am curious to know what yours are!! Please share by commenting below!! Until next time have a fabulous day!

Radiant Orchid!! A new year and new color trend to add to your beauty and fashion collections!! Pantone states, “Radiant Orchid is an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” Visit Pantone’s website for more information behind the inspiration of this years color and about Pantone the company!

Tips To Make Your Make-up Shopping Experience Wonderful!

Hey Beauties!! I just read and awesome article about “How to Get What You Want At The Makeup Counter” over at  You all know that I work in makeup and know how much I love servicing clients daily and there are some days where I wish beauties would consider a few things before they come and visit a makeup store. This article touched based on many things we as consumers should consider when shopping in makeup in a retailed environment. The few points that hit home with me were:

  1. Communication is key. I can completely relate to that! My pet peeve is when a client says…”I need something for my face?” What does that translate too? You need foundation? moisturizer? concealer? blush? mask?? You get the idea…
  2. Consider the other side of the counter.
  3. How to get a make over.

I really would love for you all to check out this article tell me what you think by leaving me some feedback below! If you work in makeup or if you are a person that loves to shop for makeup what are your thoughts?

Foundation Favs: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15 Review

Hey beauties! If you have seen my latest tutorial called “Purplelicious Eyes” on youtube then you already know that I have been wearing a new foundation for this summer. The foundation I have been rocking for most of the summer is by Tarte Cosmetics and it is called the Amazonian Clay 12 hour full coverage foundation SPF15. Phew!! That is a long name for a foundation, lol. I truly did not pick this for the full coverage I was looking for a natural foundation that was some what water resistant, left me with a semi matte finish, and had skincare benefits in it as well. So as a result, my search lead me to the foundation I will be talking about in this post.

About Tarte Cosmetics:

Before I started tarte out of my one bedroom apartment in 1999, I was a total beauty addict like you but quickly became frustrated when I couldn’t find healthy, nourishing cosmetics – everything I found was full of unhealthy, synthetic formulas. And whether it was department store makeup or one of the very few ‘healthy’ makeup lines I was able to find, the packaging was so unglamorous I hardly wanted to buy it let alone take it out of my purse in public!

So I set out to create a line that would prove that glamour can be good for you by pioneering the use of high-performance naturals™ that bring clinical results to the everyday woman! Ten years later tarte is the leader in earth engineered™ beauty offering the widest selection of natural cosmetics full of skinvigorating™ ingredients including our proprietary t5 super fruit complex™ (a blend of the five most active, free-radical fighting super fruits), vitamins, minerals and natural fruit and plant extracts. But it’s not just about what’s in our healthy formulas; it’s what’s not in them that really sets us apart! Our products are formulated without parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances, just to name a few.

We don’t just stop at the formulas – our chic, runway-inspired cases and compacts are more than just pretty packaging. We’re helping reduce green house gas emissions one mascara at a time by creating components that are made from recyclable or post-consumer recycled material and can often be re-used to help reduce environmental waste. We like to say we’re doing the ‘leg work’ to help all of us minimize our carbon footprints.

I hope you enjoy your tarte purchase and remember:
be green, be smart, be tarte!
