Halley’s Curls Virgin Malaysian Remy Hair Review

Today I am finally giving you all a review of maybe my favorite texture from halley’s curls which is the Halley’s curls virgin Malaysian hair. I have been wearing this hair for 6 weeks and now I am ready to give you my honest review and tell you personal experience with maybe my favorite hair texture from them. I have installed 2 packs of the 16 inch hair that sells for $103 per pack. Now I recommend is you like a thicker install you may want to install 2 ½ packs of hair.

Now as far as a closure you can purchase them from Halley’s curls however, I am not using a closure on my hair. I have my natural hair exposed on top and around my hairline too! Because I personally like to feel my hair breath a little on top if you know what I mean.

This hair texture has intact cuticles and has not been chemically treated. The texture is sleek and straight, with the slightest hint of a wave when allowed to air dry. And let me tell you when it air dries the hair feels so soft and smooth.  Now as far as hair color their Supreme Malaysian Remy Hair Collection is only available in its natural hair color. Shades normally range from darkest brown to near black, so keep that in mind. This hair can be found at www.halleyscurls.com

You may ask how do you care for the Halley's Curls Virgin Malaysian Hair?

  1. Halley’s Curls recommends to Shampoo hair at least once a week with a product compatible with the hair texture.
  2. Do not massage or rub the hair against itself. Wash in a downward motion in order to avoid tangling.
  3. Apply a moisturizing conditioner, wait at least 3 minutes.
  4. Gently towel dry hair. Apply a leave – in conditioner to hair.
  5. Gently comb hair with a wide tooth comb.
  6. Air dry hair or set the hair, while wet, on rollers for curls
  7. If you must use heat, to dry or style the hair, be sure you use a leave in conditioner first.

Daily Care for Straight Hair – Virgin Malaysian & Salon Relaxed

  1. Comb hair with a wide tooth comb, beginning at the ends and working your way up towards the scalp.
  2. Use alcohol free styling aids, such as mouse, gel, and hairspray in moderation.
  3. Do not use oily or greasy products; it can cause extreme tangling to the hair.
  4. Before going to bed, braid, pin curl or roller set your hair.
  5. Sleep with a satin cap or on a satin covered pillow in order to avoid friction and tangling.

Products I Use on My Hair?

I currently use Oscar Blandi’s Shampoo di Jasmine – Smoothing Shampoo & Smoothing Conditioner and for my leave in I use either Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla spray or Bead Head leave in Conditioner.

To moisturize my hair I use Carol's Daughter Hair Balm on my hairline & exposed hair on top.

To add Shine on my hair I will minimally use Oscar Blandi’s Hair Serum

And for styles I want curls to last I will use sparingly is the Garnier Fructis Style Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray, Extra Strong 3 with natural bamboo extract. I like this one because it does not make my hair fell sticky or hold and it makes my curls last all day with this high humidity this summer.

Was Styling The Virgin Malaysian Remy Hair Easy?

This hair styling very easy! I am not kidding. Once day I decided to create some beachy waves in my hair so I decided to give it a try. And if you follow me on my facebook fan page you already got a sneak peak of how the hair style turned out! This hair takes curls so fast! I was so impressed and the curl time was less than 25 minutes. And the curls lasted 8 hour for me with little dropping of curls, which is awesome!

This hair texture was also very easy to flat iron too! So the versatility of fabulous!!

Was There Any Tangling or Shedding With This Texture?

Tangling. . .What tangling? It was such a treat to not experience any tangling. I am surprised! Even in the 6th week no tangling!!

With the other textures about 6 weeks you will see a little tangling, but again nothing major.  And, I am referring to the Salon relaxed and the Gentle Wave relaxed hair.

Shedding. . OMG! While working with this hair I noticed my bathroom floor was not accumulating hair on the floor and no complaining from hubby about hair on the floor. The other texture shedding, but very little. This one on the other hand little in none, so that was a plus!

No Matting at all!

My overall thought on this hair is that this is a great texture and I would recommend it however if you have natural none relaxed hair this texture may not blend well. So, I would recommend in this case the salon relaxed hair. If you have relaxed hair this texture is great!! The hair itself is smooth soft and lightweight on your hair. It is easy to care for and reuse.

I am really in love this texture even though I am transitioning my hair from relaxed to natural. Yes I am 8 weeks out from relaxing my hair. I am really REALLY trying transition my hair again. With that said I will use a flat iron minimally to keep the texture to blend. Unless you beauties have so suggestions for me send them my way.

Anyway. .  I hope that you all enjoyed my review of the Halley’s Curls Virgin Malaysian Remy Hair and if you would like to try this hair texture yourself visit the ladies over at www.Halleyscurls.com and also follow them on twitter at @halleyscurls. Until the next video you all take care Bye!

First, let me say that you are thorough…and I appreciate that (=
I was looking and looking for someone who had reviewed this hair, and I first found that you did a review for the Salon Relaxed for last summer which I don't want, but was considering because your video was so detailed.  I just wanted a straight texture that I can curl or simply have a bump. I usually do a curly hair and was trying to do something new with this Virgin Malaysian hair. Whew, I digress lol.

Anywhoot, so I think I'm going to go ahead and get it (but in 10", 14", and 16" for layering and body), and it's on sale now! I'm looking for more reviews before I finally decide to buy though.
So, idea for you. Instead of using an iron to curl it all the time, maybe try jumbo (or whatever size depending on your desired curl) flexi rods or pin curling the hair. Since you said that it doesn't take long to curl (of you don't wan to sleep in them) maybe do it before you shower in the morning if you want loose curls.  Also, since you are transitioning- YAY…welcome to the natural side- I think you may want to try doing an invisible part weave.  That's a whole head weave where you have a part where you desire, but all the tracks are covered. You can youtube it. I think it's a wonderful alternative to a whole head weave since most people are opposed to it- keep in mind that you will not be able to move the part.
Questions for you: 1.) This is the shade the hair came in? I want it to be as black as possible, but am sssooo scared of dying it all because every time I've done so, the hair has ruined. I hope they can get me the darkest hair possible. 2.) You didn't seal the wefts of this hair like the salon relaxed? Do you recommend others do so? Still no shedding without the sealing? 3.) Did you co-wash before you put it in? 4.) I've noticed that you are using a different shampoo from the salon relaxed. Do you think the Dove shampoo/conditioner/leave-in you used for that will work for the Virgin Malaysian? The Oscar Blandi is to much more expensive than the Dove, and if they give the same results why not just use that? 5.) And when you speak of washing your hair with those products are you speaking mainly of your real hair since you have some of it out..or is this all inclusive with the weave too?
So sorry for this long message. Didnt realize it got that long. (=
    Have a wonderful day. xx

      Hi there!!
Thanks for the suggestions on curling the hair! I really appreciate it! Now to answer your questions! The is in a virgin state so that means the shade can vary from dark brown to black in color. You may want to email halleys curls about the dying the hair for I have not done that before. As far as sealing the wefts halleys curls says you do not have to seal the wefts anymore, for I experience very little shedding with this texture. You definitely want to co-wash the hair before installing that is what they recommend. Lastly you can use the dove shampoo line with this hair texture. I only decided to try Oscar Blandi because I was shopping at sephora and wanted to try something new and I use this product on my hair and they halleys curls too!

      I hope this helps,
      Tasha 🙂

  2. HI TASHA!
You are gorgeous and very thorough and I greatly appreciate that! Ok. . .So I was debating between Salon relaxed, gentle wave relaxed, and now virgin malaysian remi just because of ur review! whew ur good! I ordered samples of all of those and I felt like the virgin malaysian was too silky. . .It didnt have the "texture" that the salon relaxed or gentle wave does.  Im a little indecisive. I like to wear my hair with the "kardashian" kind of curls  (16" and 18") and you mentioned previously that salon relaxed doesnt hold curls well. . .so I was leaning towards the gentle wave relaxed. Ive read that the gentle wave relaxed tangles a little more than salon relaxed. I havent watched many reviews on the virgin malaysian hair until i saw your and its very convinving! Why do you love this hair so much? If you were going to purchase hallys curls again which would you buy? I dont want to purchase hair that doesnt curl well but I dont want it to be silky either. Plz Help!!!

    • Natasha says

I really like the virgin Malaysian hair the best because of it’s ability to hold curls! The texture does bother me because my hair is has a fine to medium texture. If you go with the salon relaxed you will have to use hairspray to help hold the curls longer for you through the day and You will have to wash more frequently because you do not want to have to much product build up from the hairspray. I hope this helps. I just re-installed the virgin malaysian hair yesterday and I am so happy with it back it!!

I just ordered the virgin malaysian hair RIGHT NOW!!!!!! I got 18" , 20'', and a 22"  oh and i also ordered the whispered bang because i DO NOT want to cut the hair. Have you tried the bang? & the reason i got all 3 is because i like a full head of hair and i ABSOLUTELY LOVE CURLS!!!!!! Your review was great you and a friend of mines in LA really helped me out alot! Nowhow long how you say the virgin malaysian hair should last up?

    • Natasha says

      Hello Martika,

I have never used the bangs before, so you will have to let me know what you think about them 🙂
The hair will last a long time if you take care of it! I just recent re-installed my virgin malaysian hair and I had it for over 3 months now and I bet it will last longer as long as I do not cut it into a style I get bored of, lol. Best wishes with your new install 🙂

  4. Hey Natasha,
First off, thank you so much for the detailed review! I found it helpful. My biggest question is how does the hair look when wet? Could you wet it, put a little bit of leave-in conditioner in it and some alcohol-free gel (for definition) and it would hold up nicely? Thanks!

    • Natasha says

This hair you cannot wet. However, they do offer a texture like that but I have not tried that one yet.

I love the texture of the hair, however the shedding has been horrible!!!!!! This occurred from the beginning. It has now been one month and I hate that this will cause me to have to remove it sooner and get a new hairdo.
