Hair Extensions: Halley’s Curls Review

Hey my hairnistas out there that love to have the weaves looking fierce! I recently came across HalleyCurls.com on youtube, through my obsessiveness of watching reviews and tutorials myself, I was personally looking for a new brand of hair extensions to try even though my Lord & Cliff Art Remi Hair lasted me so long I wanted to try another brand to see how it compares to the brands I have tried in the past.

Back on July 16th I decided to order my first Halleys Curls hair from Halleyscurls.com. The ordering process was easy and to my surprise my order arrived very quickly the following Monday! Wow, right!!

Here's my Order:

Halleys Curls

I was impressed with the packaging because it looked like the packaging you get from your local beauty supply store. It also came with the business cards along with my receipt and return policy. The hair that I ordered was the 12" & 14" Malaysian Salon Relaxed hair. The reason why I got this hair is due to the texture. The hair resembles the texture of relaxed African-American hair! I am not kidding it does!! So, before I got to excited I went ahead and started to prep my hair for my install. The recommend to do the follow be for installing the hair:

I have to say that I have never used these products because I thought that I was supposed to use products that are for "African American" hair, but according to my stylist I was wrong. The products are great because they will not agitate your cuticles and strip your hair of vital moisture it needs to retain. So I am going to used this product on my natural hair too. Why? Because the product smells fabulous and the hair did not have that dried out coarse texture after washing. So. . .Tasha LOVES Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Line of products!! I even got my hair lady interested in it too.

The are the products I used By Dove:

Hair Preparation & Drying:

Co Washing Halleys Curls

Dry time

I have to say that this was a process, but necessary to get the hair ready for install. After the hair dries you can seal the wefts on the hair with Aleene's hair glue to help minimize shedding. However, after talking with the Halleys Curls they assured me that I did not have to glue the wefts no longer because the wefts are sewn with such quality that the shedding is minimal without gluing the weft. So the next time around I will not glue the wefts because it took FOREVER, lol to do this task.

Anyway, I got my hair installed a few day later and I was soooo excited because I love the way the hair feels and I love my new style for this fall season!

My New Style:

My Hair Install

Back View

I love this new style!! I am feeling a bit Kim Kardashian with the dark curly locks, but I will gets used it. I am just so used to my 1b30 hair color I wore this entire spring and summer. Many have been commenting on my Youtube channel do have a frontal installed or a closure? The answer to that question is no! My stylist left my hair out on top by the part section of my style and blended in my hair with the extensions, pretty cool, huh? I honest don't like wearing closures because I feel so hot and my scalp needs to breath.

All in all, I love this new hair! I have been wearing this hair for a week and not tangles or extreme shedding at all! If you looking for something like this for your next install definitely check out Halleyscurls.com! I think they are still having they sale that end July 31st!! Anyway, if you would like to see my video review click on the video below. I also have a playlist on my Youtube channel called Hair extension and Hair Care. There you will see products I use on my hair and styling tools I am loving for the moment.

  • tiffany

what type of brush do you use on your weave

    • Natasha

A paddle brush or a wide tooth brush (venting brush I believe it is called)

  • tiffany

did you let the hair naturally dry?

    • Natasha

  • Kaniedood

love yo hair in the pic, but the technique they use in my country involves elastic bands(Namibia)….could this look as great as yours???? i'm nervous cos i've neva had a weave before

    • Natasha

I am not too sure! I have not tired the Namibia technique with my hair stylist.

  • Crystal

Natasha first off I would like to say you are Wonderful! I've been looking on different sites for hair care instructions and finally beautychamelon.com made my day. I just signed up and I have read your newsletters and watched your videos and I find it absolutely outstanding. I like how you break it step by step on hair care, make up and all the other things you provide. Thanks to your step by step hair care instructions my hair will become exactly like yours. Its exactly what I needed thanks to you! You are beautiful and I love your style. Thanks for this website. IT'S AWESOME!!

    • Natasha

      Awww. . Thank Crystal!

  • http://www.beautychameleon.com Jackie

    Hello Tasha,
I love the instructions you give. I got my first weave two weeks ago & my hair looks wonderful thanks to your tutorials. What color did you choose for Halley's Curls?

    • Natasha

The halleys curls only comes in one color since it is not processed hair. the color is a dark brown to almost black.

      • MsRR

Is the dark brown similar to a beauty supply number 2?

        • Natasha

I would say, yes it is. That’s the color I would get from a beauty supply store because it is close to my natural color.

  • Tnishia

Hey just wanted to know how is the hair holding up I saw your make up mac eyeshadows tutorial and it was tied up. I recently purchased halleys curls after seeing your review and will be getting it installed tomorrow. Just wanted to see if it is holding up to its expectations.
I love your bog have to log on at least once a day.

    • Natasha

      Hi Tnishia!

I am on week 5 and I am still loving this hair. I just filmed an update video and a how to care for your halleys curls video. They will mostly likely be posted here and on youtube next week some time because I have a lot of editing to do on those videos, lol. You are going to love it!!

  • http://wretchedlybeautiful.blogspot.com Shakeyo1

Looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am taking my Saga out this weekend and need to prepare my hair for the next batch. Halley's curls it is. Thank you for taking the time to be thorough and informative with both your videos and blogs. Also what shade of nail polish are you wearing in this video it looks lovely.

    • Natasha

Anytime! The nail polish I am wearing is by orly and it is called snowcone :)

  • Jazz

Your hair looks great! Do you use a net? Thanks

    • Natasha

Hi Jazz, My stylist did not use a net.

  • tiffany

how long did it take the hair to come in? and did you use all of the two packs? is any of your hair left out?

    • Natasha

It took 2-5 business days for the hair to arrive. I did not use the entire two packs and yes some of my hair is left out on the sides and top. Check out my youtube channel NHOP76. I do have a video showing how I wash my hair with the halleys curls installed and it reveals how much of my hair is exposed. I hope that you enjoy it, Tasha :)

  • Ashley

    Hi Tasha,
I am getting ready to prepare my HC and I was wondering if I could use the Bed Head for a leave-in conditioner instead of the L'Oreal?
    Thanks,
    Ashley

    • Natasha

Yes you can. That is what I am using now. I love that leave in conditioner by bead head :)

  • Terri

The color & style of your hair looks awesome! I wish your stylist waasn't so shy.

    • Natasha

Me too, but I just learned how to sew in my own hair, so hopefully in the next month or so I will show my process :)

      • Terri

I am really looking forward to your video. I have had the same natural curly hair style at shoulder length for 10 years. I can not wait to try extensions. How much of my hair do you think I should leave out?  Can I send you a pic & get your opinion? I am going to order a few samples from halleyscurls.com. I really want straight hair maybe with a little wave since I've had curls so long. What questions should I ask a stylist during a consult about installing my extensions?
        Thank you so much:)

        • Natasha

          Hi Terri,

It depends on the hair style that you are trying to achieve. My advice to you is when you go meet with you hair stylist gather up pictures of hair styles that you would like you sew in to resemble. That will give the hair stylist and indication on how to style your hair and how much should be sew in according to the style chosen. For me personally I always leave some hair out were my part is at and along the perimeter of my head too just so if I want to wear a ponytail I can easily blend my hair in to that style. I hope this helps and just ask you stylist lots of questions.

  • Martinique Kennedy

Your Hair does look pretty ….. How long did that hair last??

    • Natasha

The hair lasted me too installs 5-6 months. I got new hair because I got tired of the hair style that was cute into the hair.

  • Tiffany

Hi, I just bought the Halley’s Curls Salon Relaxed thanks to your reviews thanks alot!!! However I live in the Austin area and would love to try ur stylist out can you email her info to me ?

    • Natasha

      Hi Tiffany!!

I just sent you a message with her info :)

  • Ella

Your hair is beautiful, I hope this isn’t a dumb question but did you curl your hair in the vid/ pic or is that how it naturally dries?

    Thanks

  • Kimmer

Hello Beauty Chameleon!!  I am getting my hair done at the end of this month and I'm so confused as to what brand of hair to purchase.  I like Halley's Curl Gentle Relaxed (I've only seen photos and YouTubetorials) but I heard Indique is good too.  Have you ever tried Indique?  I'm leaning towards Halley's :-)

  • Jennifer

The install looks great!  I just recently ordered the gentle wave from them, how long did your order take to ship?

  • Sandra Marvin

JUST A WORD OF WARNING…. I ordered from Halleys Curls for 177.00 dollars worth of hair to be sent to the UK…. the hair Didn´t arrive because according to the Uk post office they didn´t pay enough postage on the parcel.  I´ve emailed Halleys Curls about 9 times. They responded that they´d get back to me in the first instance then ignore every correspondance afterwards.   I´ve tried to contact them on twitter…. they blocked my account… tried to call and there the telephone number registered to them goes to a chinese restaurant……

So i´ve basically lost and and been ripped off 177.00 dollars.  It may be a one off but i feel it relevant to warn people that this is my experience with this company.

  • Danyelle

Love your videos and site.  I placed my first HC order last Sunday, July 31, received the delivery confirmation number the next day and my order on August 3rd.  It was extremely fast and I was pleasantly happy as this will be my first weave.
Thank you for all of your advise on how to care for this hair.  And my prayers to you and your family on the loss of your dad.

  • liz

I want to order some of the str8 hair from hc, but I wanted to know how good is the hair, and how long does it last. I have natural hair no perm. Will this blend okay with the hair.

  • PinkGirl

I was talking with my doctor about hair products for me – I have fine-haired wavy and curly hair that needs extra protein. My doctor decided the Antioxidant Leave in Protecter from Shielo Hair Care, and am so glad I tried it! After using it just once, my waves (which had been looking rather straight) curled right up, and it left my hair feeling really soft and lovely.

Several reviewers on other websites had mentioned that the smell is amazing and I agree! It makes my hair smell so fresh  - my husband loves the smell.

I also like how this plays well with other hair products. I've been experimenting by layering various brands of curl cremes and gels over it, and it doesn't flake up or act strangely at all.

As for the amount to use, I've been using four sprays on my shoulder-length hair. I may increase the amount to make sure I really get all my hair covered. I've also just been raking it through my hair with my fingers, but I might try a comb.

  • Erika

I have to cosign with the rest of the group. I stumbled upon your blog and absolutely love what I've seen so far. From a previous commenter I noticed you live in the austin area, but do you happen to know a great (reasonable) stylist that could give similar results in the atlanta area?
    keep up the great work!!

    • Natasha

I am so sorry, but I don’t know anyone in the Altanta area :(

  • Paula Hicks

I absolutely love Halleys Curls products! I have used the gentle wave relaxed and now the virgin remy hair. If you follow the instructions provided by the company, you will enjoy your hair for many, many installments! It holds curls perfectly and looks truly natural.

  • Traci

Great YouTube….I have been using Halleys for years, Gentle Wave and I love it!
