Foundation Favs: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15 Review

Hey beauties! If you have seen my latest tutorial called “Purplelicious Eyes” on youtube then you already know that I have been wearing a new foundation for this summer. The foundation I have been rocking for most of the summer is by Tarte Cosmetics and it is called the Amazonian Clay 12 hour full coverage foundation SPF15. Phew!! That is a long name for a foundation, lol. I truly did not pick this for the full coverage I was looking for a natural foundation that was some what water resistant, left me with a semi matte finish, and had skincare benefits in it as well. So as a result, my search lead me to the foundation I will be talking about in this post.

About Tarte Cosmetics:

Before I started tarte out of my one bedroom apartment in 1999, I was a total beauty addict like you but quickly became frustrated when I couldn’t find healthy, nourishing cosmetics – everything I found was full of unhealthy, synthetic formulas. And whether it was department store makeup or one of the very few ‘healthy’ makeup lines I was able to find, the packaging was so unglamorous I hardly wanted to buy it let alone take it out of my purse in public!

So I set out to create a line that would prove that glamour can be good for you by pioneering the use of high-performance naturals™ that bring clinical results to the everyday woman! Ten years later tarte is the leader in earth engineered™ beauty offering the widest selection of natural cosmetics full of skinvigorating™ ingredients including our proprietary t5 super fruit complex™ (a blend of the five most active, free-radical fighting super fruits), vitamins, minerals and natural fruit and plant extracts. But it’s not just about what’s in our healthy formulas; it’s what’s not in them that really sets us apart! Our products are formulated without parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances, just to name a few.

We don’t just stop at the formulas – our chic, runway-inspired cases and compacts are more than just pretty packaging. We’re helping reduce green house gas emissions one mascara at a time by creating components that are made from recyclable or post-consumer recycled material and can often be re-used to help reduce environmental waste. We like to say we’re doing the ‘leg work’ to help all of us minimize our carbon footprints.

I hope you enjoy your tarte purchase and remember:
be green, be smart, be tarte!

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hour Cream Gel Eye Shadow Review

Good afternoon my beauties! Today I am excited to share with you all my thoughts about the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadows that debuted earlier this year. I have to say thanks for Koko over at Kokofemme on youtube for influencing me to buy these amazing little wonders.  I discovered them by watching her review on her youtube channel! Thanks Koko!! You all have to check out her channel. I love her! In addition to Koko’s influence I have to thank all of my facebook divas from my Beauty Chameleon Facebook page for influencing me to check them out and create a review! Thank you team Chameleon for making me purchase them all, lol. So let’s take a look:

First let’s talk about the Color Tattoo 24 hour cream gel Eye Shadow. These little cute pots contains about .14oz 4g of product for only $6.99 each. The packaging reminds me of the L’oreal hip eyeliner packaging. It has a  class jar with a black lid to keep them from drying out. I have to say I had these for almost a month and they are not showing any signs of dry out which is awesome! The consistency of eye shadow is very smooth and creamy which give them the ability to blend easily. I highly recommend using your finger tips to apply them on or a synthetic flat eye shadow brush for a smooth application. Do not use a fluffy eyeshadow brush, hence poor application with those.

You can find them at Walgreen’s, CVS, and pretty much any drugstore in your local area. You can also find them at drugsture.com too.The are available in the following Shades:

  • 05 Too Cool: Which has a frosty white satiny appearance with shimmer. This one my a great highlight on the inner corners of the eye or center of the eye lid.
  • 15 Audacious Asphalt: Applies on creamy and smooth. It has a satiny appearance with shimmer. This will work well alone or as a base in order to intensify your eye look.
  • 35 Tough As Taupe: Is a matte muted grayish purple appearance. This is a great base to create a smoky eye with. Applies on very smooth.
  • 30 Pomegranate Punk: My FAV!! This one is also satiny in appearance with a low shimmer. The color is like a burgundy/purple tone. Again if you would like to seen a look with this one click “here” to see my tutorial.
  • 20 Painted Purple: Is less dense then the other colors, so you will have to apply a couple of coats in order to create a bold look with this one. It’s appearance is a low satin purple shade.

  • 40 Tenacious Teal: Is a bold one! Love it!!! This one is bright, satiny and shimmery too. Easy to apply like them all which is fabulous!
  • 50 Edgy Emerald: True to color and satiny.
  • 10 Fierce & Tangy: Goes on matte with shimmer to me. It is a bit thicker in texture, so with this one less is more.
  • 25 Bad to the Bronze: Is beautiful, creamy and smooth. I like that it is not too brassy. It will be a perfect shade to wear during the summer months especially if you are a bronze goddess or course.
  • 45 Bold Gold: This one is a little dryer compare to the others, but not to the point of non purchase. I love the color and the satiny appearance of them too. The one made a cameo in my Bollywood Inspired Makeup tutorial on YouTube! Click “here” to check it out.

I have to say I have tired many cream/shadow brands from  MAC paint pots to Benefit Cosmetics cream shadows and many more.  And, you will definitely spend from $17.50 and up for them. So, with that said I feel that the Maybelline Color Tattoos are totally comparable to the department store brands I mentioned. You can purchase all of them without breaking the bank which is awesome too me!

Now, let’s talk about the wear of these babies. I for one have oily eyelids, and with that said I was extremely amazed with the longevity of these eye shadows!! I work 8 hours day in addition to the application time before work and when I finally get ready for bed and wash off the makeup. These shadows last me all day long without creasing! I could not believe that a drugstore eye shadow has this much potential!! I also notice that when I was swatching them on my hands and then I went to wash them they did not wash off easily. I had to scrub them off which was awesome to me! If you would like to know the look I tested the longevity with check out my Valentine’s day Pomegranate Punk tutorial on YouTube! This look lasted all day long!

What the brand says about these cute little cream gel eye shadows:

Why You’ll Love It
• Ink technology creates 24HR wear shadow for our most intense, long-lasting color saturation
• Cream formula glides on without creasing and keeps color vibrant
• Ophthalmologist-tested. Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

High impact look:
Apply with fingertips, sweep all over eye from inner corner and work outwards. For added drama, darken as desired.

Overall, I love the Maybelline color tattoo cream/gel eye shadows and I recommend them to all of my divas that enjoy long wear eye shadows. I for one would still recommend to wear a eye shadow primer if you have extremely oily eye lids. The only thing that I hope Maybelline will consider is to come out with some skin like tones and neutral shades in the future. I truly hope that launch more shades in the future because I would definitely purchase them again!

Sedona Lace 120 Pro Palette Review

Hey beauties! Today I am reviewing the Sedona Lace 120 Palette from Sedonalace.com. I know, I am late to trying out Sedona Lace products ever since the buzz about Sedona Lace hit YouTube, right? Well, I say better late than never. A  few weeks ago I was sent the Sedona Lace 120 palette to test and try out. With all reviews I share with you I always like to do my trial runs with anything I review on youtube, so I am able to give you all a confident review. If I don’t like a product or feel that the company needs to work a little bit more work on creating more quality products I will not even waste your time by creating a video about it. So, with that said Sedona Lace past my product test.

Now, on to the product. What I am sharing with you today is the Sedona Lace 120 Palette Second Edition for $28.95. This 120 palette has new shades more soft and pastel colors. This 2 layered palette filled with long lasting shimmer and matte shadows that are very soft and can be used either dry or wet.  All of the product are hypoallergenic and Sedona Lace does not test their products on animals.

Makeup Pros:

  • Variety of Color options in this palette. Such as Brights, Neutrals and Shading colors.
  • A nice mix of matte and satin shadows
  • Packaging is simple and easy to travel with.
  • The size of each shadow pan is large enough to fit a makeup brush into.
  • This product is very affordable for budding makeup artist or any makeup enthusiast that wants to expand the color options.

Makeup Cons:

  • Some of the shadows such as the silvers, golds, and bronze shades lack pigmentation. So I would highly recommend using a base with those shades.

Overall, I truly enjoyed working with this palette. I traveled with it and none of my shadows broke on me. It was also great to have because there were some days where I craved for neutral looks and then there were others days when I wanted fabulousness with brights! So, I basically had everything I needed in one fabulous palette from Sedona Lace.

Have you ever used this palette from Sedona Lace? If so give us your feedback by leaving a comment below! Share with us your pro and cons about this palette. Also if you really want to see swatch of all 120 colors leave your comments below too. And, if I receive a huge response I will update the blog with swatches. Until next time stay beautiful on the inside and out!

Bare Escentuals: My Foundation Routine

Hello beauties!! I am so glad to be here today sharing another video with you all! Thank you so much for your wonderful response on my holiday makeup 2011: classic smoky eye tutorial!! I am so glad you all liked it and that some of you are going to even try it for your next holiday event which is fabulous!!

Today I am going to be sharing with you my new foundation routine for the moment of course (I can't stick to one foundation for too long, lol). For the past month I have been wearing the Bare Escentuals/ Bare Minerals foundation. You are probably thinking, what? Bare Minerals??? Yes, I decided to get back on the Bare Minerals band wagon since my skin is so tired of wearing liquid and cream foundations for the moment. Lately I just wanted to give my skin a break and wear something that is light weight and powder like and Bare Minerals was the one for right now. I am using the original formula foundation that goes on like a powder, but has a dewy finish like liquid foundation. If you have oily skin they now make a Matte formula too!

A while back and I mean a while back I tired bare minerals and I was always matched with either Tan or Dark and neither color matched my skin. One was too red and the other was must too dark for my yellow/olive skin. So since they now have this new shade Golden Tan I can now have a close match. I still have to manipulate the finish a little bit around the forehand and contours of my face with bronzer to get the perfect finish since my forehead is a little darker than the rest of my face. The bronzer I use for that is either NARS casino or MAC bronzer in Bronze.

I have notice that after wearing the bare minerals my skin is clearing from the breakouts I was experiencing from wearing liquid foundations and not sticking to my night time cleansing routine too. (Working late makes a lazy Tasha, lol) Anyway, in the video below I will be sharing with you what I use with the bare Minerals in order to create my flawless face routine. Do any of you use the Bare Minerals? If so, what do you like about it or not like about it? Let me know by leaving your comment below. Until then enjoy the video!!

Happy Holidays,

Tasha :)
