OneStyling.com: Crush Flat Iron Review

Today’s post will be all about hair tools since it has been a while since I talked about styling products for the hair! A month ago Onestyling.com sent me their Crush line of hair tools for review consideration such as the Crush 1 inch tourmaline flat iron along with a cute mini tourmaline flat iron.

Crush 1 inch Flat Iron:

Information according to Onestyling.com:

  • Wide temperature range (140°F to 450°F) ideal for all hair textures
  • Tourmaline technology provides maximum negative ionic output to lock in moisture and eliminate static and frizz
  • Gentle far infrared heat safely penetrates the hair follicle to minimize heat damage
  • Sleek ergonomic design for easy handling
  • Floating beveled plates allow for optimum styling control
  • Dual voltage makes it ideal for traveling*
  • Professional length swivel cord
  • Available plate sizes: 1″ only
  • Available in:  White/Green, Silver/White, Black/Blue and Raspberry/Silver

Crush Mini Flat Iron:

Information according to Onestyling.com:

  •  Professional ceramic heater with superior heat recovery and maximum temperature of 410°F
  •  Texture IQ™ system automatically calibrates heater based on hair texture
  •  Tourmaline technology provides maximum negative ionic output to lock in moisture and eliminate static and frizz
  •  Gentle far infrared heat safely penetrates the hair follicle to minimize heat damage
  •  Floating beveled plates allow for optimum styling control
  •  Dual voltage makes it ideal for traveling*
  • Available in: White/Green, Silver/White, Black/Blue and Raspberry/Silver

Now my thoughts on both styling tools? Ok. . . Let’s start with the pros and cons of the 1 inch flat iron.

Pros:

  • The flat iron heated up really fast and I need that because I love that snooze button on my alarm clock too much and when I get up late at times I can flat iron my hair in a snap.
  • The cord at the end of this iron swivels which is great! However, I do believe most flat irons has this capability.’
  • The iron is lightweight which means less pressure on my wrist and easy styling too.
  • I love the floating plates on the flat iron.
  • The  variety of heating options.
  • The cord length is perfect. Long enough to style at a distance.
  • Price is realistic at only $80.

Cons:

  • Wish is came with a cooling pad to store the flat iron in after styling with it.

Now for the pros and cons of the mini flat iron.

Pros:

  • Small and convenient to carry in your purse for touch ups.
  • Easy to flat iron baby hairs and short hair styles.
  • Floating plates like the big sister iron.
  • Cord length
  • Price is pretty affordable at $30

Cons:

  • Only one heating temperature
  • Cord does not swivel like the big sister iron

Overall, I really enjoyed testing both of these flat irons over the past few months and I truly feel that these flat irons are worth the price that company is selling them for. I also feel that both irons heat evenly and I did not have to worry about the iron over heating my hair and causing damage to them at all. If you are in the market for a new flat iron I would definitely recommend Onestyling.com.

The Original Indian Hair Company: Wavy Indian Hair After 6-8 Weeks

Hello my beauties, this post is for my divas that love to rock hair extensions like me, and you have been dying to know what my thoughts are on the buzz worthy hair extension from The Original Indian Hair Company. Back in September, I installed 2 bundles of the 18"-20" Indian Wavy hair in Natural Dark brown. ($199 per bundle! Yes, this hair is expensive, but you will find out why it is worth the price later on.) I installed every single weft used since the hair texture is fine to medium. Now if you like to have a fuller/ thicker installation than what I have then I highly recommend purchasing 3 bundles of hair in order to achieve that. However, I was happy with 2 bundles. Initially, when I received the hair it had a curly appearance and smelled to fresh and clean without that chemical processed smell. I contacted the company to see if they recommend to wash it again prior to install and they said it was not needed since they was it 2 twice before it is finally shipped to the consumer. I thought that was great, but you all know me, I washed it anyway with my Oscar Blandi jasmine collection line of hair care products I purchased from Sephora. Now, if you have not have my initial review video of the hair click "here" to watch it on YouTube.

Ok. .  The review after wearing the hair for 8 weeks now I can finally share with you my thoughts. First this first, this hair was very easy to style 3 different ways while wearing it for the entire time span. I was able to wash and let it air dry into messy soft beach waves with little to no product at all. (I wished I took some photos of it) Secondly, this hair was very easy to curl and hold curls too, however I caution you. If you live in a hot, dry or humid climate like I do you will definitely have to use some type of holding spray to elongate the wear of the curls throughout your work day. Without the styling aid your curls will loosen up a bit and will not last all day long. Finally, as for straight styles, this hair flat ironed beautifully as you will see in the video below.

Now, on to hair maintenance. You may be wondering what did I use on my hair and the Indian hair during the 8 weeks, and how often did I wash this hair, right? Well, washing my hair I wash it one to two times a week depending on how active my workouts were or how much styling product I used on the hair on any particular day. Here are some things to consider when it comes to how often you should was your hair and the installed hair.

  • If you are exercising 3 times a week I would wash your hair twice a week due to the fact that natural oils and sweat can weight down your hair and cause it to tangle.
  • If you heat style your hair daily and use lots of hair sprays and gels to hold your style on any given day I would wash it that night. You don't wait to restyle your hair with all of the product left on it the day before. I feel you are asking for trouble like weighed down styles, tangling and breakage (shedding) due to excessive heat style and old product on it.
  • If you are very kind to your hair and don use excessive amount of product on it or a lot of heat and you down exercise often then once a week is fine.

The products I decided to use on my hair due to the climate and the frizzing I experienced are the Ojon damage reverse line of products you can find at Sephora and Ulta. Now don't get me wrong the hair was not extremely frizzing, but the climate can increase the frizziness with any hair texture.

I feel these product worked wonderfully with the indian hair and kept it under control. Everytime I washed it with the Ojon it felt wonderful, less frizzy and luster was beautiful. Now you don't have to use the same things I used on it, but any hair care line that works against frizzing and dryness is a perfect match for this hair. Since this hair is expensive I wanted to use quality products on it.

On to tangling, shedding or matting. If you take care of this hair like I mentioned above you will experience little to no tangling or shedding. While wearing this hair I did experience some shedding and I believe that had to do with me cutting the wefts for this install. However, the shedding was minimal. Tangling, there was very little tangling. The tangling I experience was just like any other hair extension I have worn in the past. When you are moving throughout the day the hair get little tangles, but nothing that my fingers could comb out gently. Matting, none!

Now, would I purchase this hair in the future? Of course I would! I would have to save some $$$, but if I am getting ready for an extra fabulous event and I want nice quality hair I would. Also the hair is worth the price because you can definitely get your wearing's worth out of this hair. I truly feel that this is one texture you can wearing over and over again. This hair is lightweight, luxurious and fun to wear in many different styles.

The Original Indian Hair Company: Final Review of the Wavy Indian Hair (6-8 weeks of wear)

The Original Indian Hair Company: Initial Wavy Indian Hair Review

Hey beauties! I know you all have been wondering in my most recent videos what hair I was rocking, right? Well, today I will answer you questions, yayyyy!! Many of you have been messaging me on Youtube or here at beauty chameleon asking me if I have every tried Indian hair and I felt so bad that I could not answer you questions regarding Indian hair. The main reason why is because I have never worn Indian hair before. In the past I have worn Malaysian hair or yaky remi hair extensions. Most of the brands that I have used I have been happy with, but I have always been curious to know how the Indian hair feels and how it maintains over an 8 week period.

So… I have been researching the internet and youtube on Indian hair and have become very impressed with the reviews of The Original Indian Hair Company's Indian hair. Many people were impressed with the texture, the longevity of the hair and the appearance of the hair, so you know after hearing that from many resources I was totally in for experimenting with Indian hear. Shortly after the excitement of wanting to try Indian hair extensions The Original Indian hair company sent me 2 bundles of their beautiful Wavy Indian hair for review consideration which means I can finally let you all know my thoughts on the Indian hair.

Before I talk about any of the hair and my pros & cons let me show what the hair looks like prior to installing:

The hair was shipped beautifully in a box which I was very impressed with. All of the wefts appeard to be sewn in place with impeccable quality and tied down to the box with a hair net protecting the beautiful locks of hair. The hair itself had a low luster to it which is great because my natural hair texture has a low luster without product on it.

The hair I received was the 18-20 inch wavy Indian hair which retails for $199 per bundle and I have two 4oz bundles in order to install a full application of hair. The hair is pretty long and it measured out to be about 22 inches long. So you get a lot of hair ladies! According to the indian hair company their hair is 100% unprocessed virgin remy Indian Hair. They never process or color our hair and They guarantee our hair to be 100% virgin. This makes their hair unmatched in quality. If you are unsure of ordering due to price and what to see what you are in for you can order samples of three textures for only $8.00. I think that is great thing to offer.

In addition to that their  products are not processed or colored, our virgin hair comes only in the natural shades of 1B (Off Black), 2 (Darkest Brown), 3 (Dark Brown) and every color in between. They recommend consulting with a professional stylist when considering coloring the hair. Of course our virgin hair will take and hold permanent, semi-permanent, cellophane, and lift beautifully, just like your own natural hair. I decided that I did not need to color the hair since I do not want to add color to my own natural hair.

As you can see by the picture the hair comes in a wavy pattern already! From what I learned the hair is washed twice and air dried before it is shipped to the consumer which is awesome. I have to say the hair smelled so good when I opened the package. It did not have a chemical processed smell to it at all. And, you know I had to do my own wash to it before I installed it and the great thing I notice is that the hair did not bleed any color out at all.  I washed my hair and the hair extension with Oscar Blandi's Jasmine shampoo and conditioner. These products mentioned are my favorites because they work for me, so please feel free to use what works best for you.

After successfully washing and blow drying my hair and they extensions I was ready to install the hair. I decided to braid all of my hair except for the area where there is a part and the areas area my hairline just so I can have a natural appearance without any tracks being exposed.

As you can see the hair take beautiful curls, the luster is low and the texture of the hair is soft to the touch! I like the fact that I can also wear this hair curly or straight. So for you ladies that love to rock the straight styles you will love this texture too. I can't wait to test letting the hair air dry and see what natural waves I get with this hair and that I will follow up with you in my 4 week video and how that turns out and much more.

Since this is my initial review I will have to follow up with you all and let you now how the hair maintains in the next four weeks. Until then leave your comments below as far as any questions you would like for me to answer in the 4 week review update concerning this hair. Once I get all of you questions I will address them in that video. Until then enjoy my initial review video below and visit The Original Indian Hair Company for more information about this hair and much more!

Halley’s Curls: Beachy Wavy Hair Tutorial

Hey divas!! Are you ready for a fun beachy wavy hair tutorial? Well, in this tutorial I will be using my favorite hair texture from Halley's Curls called Virgin Malaysian Remy hair in order to create fast wavy hair in minutes! Yes, I mean in less than 20 minutes!! While I was getting ready for my trip to San Antonio with my family I decided I wanted beachy wavy hair and I wanted to share with you all my process and results!

Supplies needed for this tutorial are:

Now, creating this style is super fun and easy, however, I would only recommend doing a style like this with heat occasionally. Why? Remember too much heat can damage your hair and your hair extensions too, so keep styles like this as a special treat during the work week.

Step by Step Video

Halley’s Curls Virgin Malaysian Remy Hair Review

Today I am finally giving you all a review of maybe my favorite texture from halley’s curls which is the Halley’s curls virgin Malaysian hair. I have been wearing this hair for 6 weeks and now I am ready to give you my honest review and tell you personal experience with maybe my favorite hair texture from them. I have installed 2 packs of the 16 inch hair that sells for $103 per pack. Now I recommend is you like a thicker install you may want to install 2 ½ packs of hair.

Now as far as a closure you can purchase them from Halley’s curls however, I am not using a closure on my hair. I have my natural hair exposed on top and around my hairline too! Because I personally like to feel my hair breath a little on top if you know what I mean.

This hair texture has intact cuticles and has not been chemically treated. The texture is sleek and straight, with the slightest hint of a wave when allowed to air dry. And let me tell you when it air dries the hair feels so soft and smooth.  Now as far as hair color their Supreme Malaysian Remy Hair Collection is only available in its natural hair color. Shades normally range from darkest brown to near black, so keep that in mind. This hair can be found at www.halleyscurls.com

You may ask how do you care for the Halley's Curls Virgin Malaysian Hair?

  1. Halley’s Curls recommends to Shampoo hair at least once a week with a product compatible with the hair texture.
  2. Do not massage or rub the hair against itself. Wash in a downward motion in order to avoid tangling.
  3. Apply a moisturizing conditioner, wait at least 3 minutes.
  4. Gently towel dry hair. Apply a leave – in conditioner to hair.
  5. Gently comb hair with a wide tooth comb.
  6. Air dry hair or set the hair, while wet, on rollers for curls
  7. If you must use heat, to dry or style the hair, be sure you use a leave in conditioner first.

Daily Care for Straight Hair – Virgin Malaysian & Salon Relaxed

  1. Comb hair with a wide tooth comb, beginning at the ends and working your way up towards the scalp.
  2. Use alcohol free styling aids, such as mouse, gel, and hairspray in moderation.
  3. Do not use oily or greasy products; it can cause extreme tangling to the hair.
  4. Before going to bed, braid, pin curl or roller set your hair.
  5. Sleep with a satin cap or on a satin covered pillow in order to avoid friction and tangling.

Products I Use on My Hair?

I currently use Oscar Blandi’s Shampoo di Jasmine – Smoothing Shampoo & Smoothing Conditioner and for my leave in I use either Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla spray or Bead Head leave in Conditioner.

To moisturize my hair I use Carol's Daughter Hair Balm on my hairline & exposed hair on top.

To add Shine on my hair I will minimally use Oscar Blandi’s Hair Serum

And for styles I want curls to last I will use sparingly is the Garnier Fructis Style Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray, Extra Strong 3 with natural bamboo extract. I like this one because it does not make my hair fell sticky or hold and it makes my curls last all day with this high humidity this summer.

Was Styling The Virgin Malaysian Remy Hair Easy?

This hair styling very easy! I am not kidding. Once day I decided to create some beachy waves in my hair so I decided to give it a try. And if you follow me on my facebook fan page you already got a sneak peak of how the hair style turned out! This hair takes curls so fast! I was so impressed and the curl time was less than 25 minutes. And the curls lasted 8 hour for me with little dropping of curls, which is awesome!

This hair texture was also very easy to flat iron too! So the versatility of fabulous!!

Was There Any Tangling or Shedding With This Texture?

Tangling. . .What tangling? It was such a treat to not experience any tangling. I am surprised! Even in the 6th week no tangling!!

With the other textures about 6 weeks you will see a little tangling, but again nothing major.  And, I am referring to the Salon relaxed and the Gentle Wave relaxed hair.

Shedding. . OMG! While working with this hair I noticed my bathroom floor was not accumulating hair on the floor and no complaining from hubby about hair on the floor. The other texture shedding, but very little. This one on the other hand little in none, so that was a plus!

No Matting at all!

My overall thought on this hair is that this is a great texture and I would recommend it however if you have natural none relaxed hair this texture may not blend well. So, I would recommend in this case the salon relaxed hair. If you have relaxed hair this texture is great!! The hair itself is smooth soft and lightweight on your hair. It is easy to care for and reuse.

I am really in love this texture even though I am transitioning my hair from relaxed to natural. Yes I am 8 weeks out from relaxing my hair. I am really REALLY trying transition my hair again. With that said I will use a flat iron minimally to keep the texture to blend. Unless you beauties have so suggestions for me send them my way.

Anyway. .  I hope that you all enjoyed my review of the Halley’s Curls Virgin Malaysian Remy Hair and if you would like to try this hair texture yourself visit the ladies over at www.Halleyscurls.com and also follow them on twitter at @halleyscurls. Until the next video you all take care Bye!

Oscar Blandi Jasmine Collection: My New Hair Routine

Hey beauties! If you have seen my most recent hair video on my Halley's Curls Gentle Wave Relaxed Hair you noticed me talking about my newest hair routine. Well in today I will be sharing with you all the specifics I use on my Halley's Curls and My hair too! As you all know that I started wearing Halley's Curls back in August 2010 and with the use of this beautiful hair I was using the Dove Intensive therapy hair routine with it. I love the Dove line, but I was eager to try something new. I blame the fashion and beauty magazine for this.

While at Sephora I came across Oscar Blandi Jasmine collection and what I read I found out that the hair collection is great for creating shine and frizz free hair without all of the harsh sulfates. So I got some samples and tried it on my hair and the Halleys Curls, and let me tell you. .  I loved the way my hair and the Halley's Curls felt after using the products. So I went back to purchase the entire hair care line for me to use.

Halley’s Curls: Gentle Wave Relaxed Hair Extensions Review (Q&A’s)

Halley's Curls Gentle Wave Relaxed Hair:

Hey my beauty chameleons!! I bet you all are like, about time your give us an update on the hair you are sporting in your new videos, right? Well, finally I can share with you on my thoughts of the Halley's Curls Gentle Wave Salon Relaxed Malaysian Remy Hair. Now, you all now that I love the salon Relaxed, but after wearing it for a while I noticed that it did not hold curls that well unless I put lots of hair spray in my hair and the downside to doing that is you have to wash and condition more often than once a week. Hence, a lot of work, lol. Or If I did not wash my hair as often you end up with a lot of product build it which can cause stress on the Halley's Curls.

As a result, I looked in my closet and looked at my two 16 inch packs of the Gentle Wave Relaxed Hair and said to myself, "girl go ahead a install it yourself!" I had this hair for awhile, but I was scared to install it in fear of ruining the hair. So long story short, I began to prep my Halley's Curls and washed, condition, and let the have dry before installing it with my new hair care system which I will talk about in another post. If you need to know how to prep your new Halley's curls check out my step by step tutorial by clicking "here".

Now before I go into details you probably want to know what the hair looks like before washing it? Well, I did keep a stand of hair so that you can see the wave pattern of the hair before washing it.  (Watch Video below to see what the strand of hair looks like.) The hair is very wavy and beautiful. Now when you wash and blow dry it the wave will loosen to appear full with lots of body. The texture of the hair is like your our hair (African American Hair) after being relaxed. I like that compare to the Saga gold, sensational goddess hair Indian hair. Why? Think about it when your feel the textures of those extensions mentioned after washing those hairs and installing it into your hair that has been relaxed don't your experience a difference of texture and the hair not blending it? I know I do and more people can tell that I am wearing extensions, but when I am wearing Halley's curls people think it is my hair even friends that known me for a while they think that my hair has grown really fast, lol. So that is why I continue to love Halley's curls. The hair is so realistic.

Anyway, the installation went fabulous! I wished I would have taken a picture of my braid pattern, but I am a perfectionist and trying to perfect it myself before I reveal and share with you all. But from the video below you can see how much I am enjoying this weeks. With curls, I don't have to use a lot of hair spray if any to hold my curls in while I am at work all day which is AWESOME!! I also like the fact that if I want to wear my hair straight it is simple to flat iron it with my T3 medium duality flat iron too! I am not kidding.

I have been wearing this hair for 7 weeks now and with regular washing and deep condition this has minimum shedding and tangles too especially with my Oscar Blandi hair products I hauled for Sephora. Now you my ask me:

How do you keep the hair from tangling?
Advice:
Washing & deep conditioning the hair 1-2 time a week will keep your Halleys curls lasting through several install. Believe me I will be re-installing this style in 3 more weeks for sure!

If you use heat styling everyday on your Halleys curls try not to heat style as often use your curling rods or rollers. Just think if you heat style your natural everyday wouldn't it get damaged, dry and brittle and eventually break off? Well that is the same thing that will happen to your Halleys curls or any hair extension you wear. If I have to heat style often I make sure that I use a heat protectant spray or a restyling spray to protect my hair and the Halleys curls from damage. I also will use a serum on the hair to closed the cuticles too. SO keep that in mind. Also trying your halleys curls in a protective style like a chigon or braid at night time will cause less friction on the hair too.

Will the hair shed?
Just like your real hair Halleys curls and any other have extension will shed to some extent. My experience with Halleys curls was minimal. I think just keep you hair and Halleys curls hydrated and you will not experience a lot of shedding and breakage.

What products I used & Links on where to purchase:
Oscar Blandi Balsamo di Jasmine Smoothing shampoo & conditioner

Halley’s Curls: How I Care For My Halley’s Curls

Wearing the Halley's Curls salon relaxed hair is such a great experience especially when you are wearing hair that feels like the texture of your own relaxed hair. However, there comes a time when you must care for this hair as if it was your own. So, you may ask. . . How do I care for my hair and my extensions in order to elongate the life of the hair in between installs? Well, the answer is washing and conditioning the hair often! Yes, that's it! How often she you was your hair with sewn-ins to consider? Well, I would say at least 1-2 times a week! Yes 1-2 times.

Washing the hair is crucial because throughout the week we sweat oil into our hairs, the use of styling products and moisturizers used begins to build up and after a while you may not that your beautiful hair extensions are beginning to look dry, starting to breakout or shed and will not curl or style because of too much product build up. When that it is time to wash and condition your hair.

What products should you use on your Halley's Curls? Well, I read the product info at Halleyscurls.com and they gave some wonderful recommendations of products to use. I took that information and added a few other things that are working well for me.

  • Deep Conditioning or Hot Oil Treatment twice a month: I used Alberto VO5 Hot Oil Weekly Intense Conditioning Treatment What they say about the product is:

    Moisturizing
    Restores Silky Softness

    Dramatically Revitalizes Hair

Saturate your hair with moisture and strengthen it up to 4x*, with VO5 Moisturizing Hot Oil.  This vitamin and protein formula restores moisture to dry hair and helps reconstruct damaged strands.  All in under one minute! And it's true after this washing and condition my hair fells so soft and shiny too! This will definitely stay in my hair care routine!

  • Shampoo: For the past month I have been using the Dove Therapy Intense Damage Repair Shampoo This shampoo smells so good and feels good on the hair too. What they say about this one:  With Repairing Serum beautiful hair begins with protection and repair.
    It For Hair That Has:
Hair with severe, accumulated damage, prone to breakage and split ends.
    Solution:

This condition is also rich and not extremely heavy ecspecially since it is packed full of great ingrediant for the hair. What they say is the condition has a  Patented Micro Moisture Serum and Fiber Active Advanced Care & Repair for Beautiful Hair. It helps reconstruct hair and prevent split ends and breakage. When your hair feels dry and breaks easily, or you're struggling with lots of split ends, it's time for Dove Intense Damage System. Reduce the split ends with our Expert damage care technology:
Intense Damage system with Fiber Actives deeply penetrates porous hair to reconstruct it from within.
Intense Damage system with Patented Micro Moisture Serum strengthens and nourishes hair from root to tip.
Did you know? Hair damaged on the inside is porous and weak, therefore more prone to breakage and splitting.
Intense Damage leaves hair strengthened and resilient to future damage.
  • Leave In Conditioner: I use Bed Head Ego Boost Split End Mender & Leave-in Conditioner [8.oz] This is a new leave in for me. I purchased this one because of it ability to do the follow for my hair and the extension: Split End Mender & Leave-in Conditioner Boost that ego and save your hair! This split end mender and leave-in conditioner mends and protects dry, damaged hair from environmental elements, chemical treatments, shampooing and brushing. Another product I will put in my hair when the weather is humid is the Dove Frizz Control Therapy Taming Cream, 4-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 3) this products is great for reducing the frizz in this hot Texas heat.
  • Heat Protectants: I think it is important to use a heat protectant spray because hot the heat that will be used on the hair to blow dry and style with a heating appliance. The heat protectant I use isNexxus Heat Protexx Heat Protection Styling Spray, 8.5 fl oz (250 ml).
